Exeter Cycling Campaign interacts with the wider public through print media. Daily trawling for relevant articles and letters in the main regional paper for the area, the Western Morning News, presents opportunities for people associated with Exeter Cycling Campaign to write letters to that newspaper to provide a personal perspective on current matters. 

A campaign spokesperson was interviewed for BBC Spotlight to discuss Rifford Road, and was quoted by BBC and Devon Live about the Newtown scheme

We maintain an active presence on Facebook, Bluesky and Instagram, as well as sending out a regular newsletter to supporters. Numbers continue to grow on the mailing list and social media channels.

The aim of this is to<br>challenge developers where their application falls<br>short of national or local policy for the provision of<br>safe cycling (and walking) for people.<br>As a result of Campaign volunteers’ responses to<br>planning applications plans are sometimes amended<br>and formal planning conditions set when planning<br>permission is granted, e.g. cycle parking increased,<br>changing facilities added, pedestrian/cycle paths<br>added to link developments.<br>Such changes enable cycling for more people for<br>their everyday trips, helping to tackle the problems<br>of sedentary lifestyles and congestion and air<br>pollution, and help to build communities in the<br>places where people live.<br>**Public support**<br>The Campaign makes a positive difference to the<br>lives of supporters and volunteers:<br>●<br>New volunteers have come forward<br>throughout the year to contribute their<br>time and energy and to engage with city<br>and county leaders.<br>●<br>The Campaign continues to receive thanks<br>from both citizens and elected councillors<br>for our engagement in the city.<br>**Infrastructure improvements for safety and**<br>**accessibility**<br>Over this reporting period, the Campaign has:<br>●<br>met regularly with the lead DCC Transport<br>Officer for Exeter to seek to influence the<br>county’s road planning.<br>●<br>pushed for and commented on the draft<br>long term cycling and walking plan<br>(‘LCWIP’) for Devon.<br>●<br>made proposals for growing and improving<br>the cycle network in Exeter<br>The Campaign’s ‘Quick Win’ list is actively used by<br>DCC to prioritise locations for quick, low cost<br>changes on cycle routes.  Some have already been<br>implemented, e.g. to remove obstacles, improve<br>signage, make drop kerbs, etc, to join up routes and<br>improve accessibility for adaptive cycles, child<br>trailers and cargo bikes.|

Campaign volunteers have worked with both Devon County Council and Exeter City Council to develop an ongoing process for collecting and delivering these Quick Wins.

## **Financial Review**
