4. Connect policy-makers with our academic network, both to provide them with a better understanding of the existing research and to link up research with their needs and objectives. 

5. Widen the public discourse around poverty, inequality and flourishing society, to enable the public to hold policy-makers to account for the implications of policy decisions.

In 2021 we framed a set of<br>objectives set priorities to look at pressing topical issues<br>relevant to poverty eradication including<br>post covid responses to poverty, and<br>climate change child rights and climate<br>change:<br>Over three sessions ASAP UK hosted an<br>event on  Addressing Poverty After the<br>Pandemic: challenges and solutions<br>This session debated some of the biggest<br>issues emerging from the COVID-19<br>pandemic.<br>Over the last 12 months we have seen a<br>radical change in income and job security<br>in the UK. The aim is to encourage discussion<br>about the policies we need to tackle<br>poverty as the UK emerges out of the<br>pandemic.<br>Panellists:<br>Professor Jane Millar – University of Bath<br>Dr Emma Wincup – Joseph Rowntree<br>Foundation<br>Dr Daniel Edmiston - University of Leeds<br>To follow on from this year's Climate<br>Conference COP26 in Glasgow ASAP hosted<br>a panel event on:<br>The Climate Crisis and Children's<br>Lives: Poverty, Health, and Child<br>Rights<br>We had three panellists to speak on the<br>topics that have arisen at COP26 in line<br>with their specialisms and the outcome for<br>children:<br>Professor Sir Michael Marmot, University<br>College London - Child Health, Inequality<br>and Poverty<br>Dr Francis Vergunst, University of Montreal<br>- Climate Change and Children's Mental<br>Health<br>Dr Thomas Bundschuh, Sheffield Hallam<br>University - The Climate Crisis and<br>Children's Rights<br>Our panellists explored how the climate<br>crisis reveals and exacerbates existing<br>poverty and health inequalities, how it<br>affects children's development and mental<br>health and how these climate harms have<br>created a child's rights crisis.<br>We ran this event as the start of a series of<br>events with academics and stakeholders<br>working together to campaign on behalf of<br>children.
