|Summary of the purposes of<br>the charity as set out in its<br>governing document|The preservation and protection of good health among people<br>living with or affected by cancer and their supporters for the<br>public benefit in particular by:<br>a) the provision of facilities for exercise and physical activity, in<br>particular dragon boating and other water sports capable of<br>promoting physical health and fitness.<br>b) providing information through seminars, workshops and talks<br>to raise awareness of and promote the benefits of physical<br>activity and a healthy lifestyle for cancer survivors;<br>c)  supporting and undertaking research into the benefits of<br>dragon boating for those affected by cancer and publishing the<br>useful results for the public benefit;<br>d) supporting the development of other cancer survivor dragon<br>boating teams locally, nationally, and internationally.|

|Summary of the main<br>activities in relation to those<br>purposes for the public<br>benefit, in particular, the<br>activities, projects or<br>services identified in the<br>accounts.|During the year paddling was suspended because of COVID 19.<br>Members were given the opportunity to take part in paddle<br>boarding, canoeing, organised walks - in line with government<br>guidance in relation to COVID - and to maintain contact via<br>zoom meetings.<br>A project to create an ACs (All Cancers Survivor) category<br>within the British Dragon Boat Association was initiated by a<br>BWD member and supported by the trustees.<br>Preliminary discussions took place with Bournemouth University<br>to development mutually beneficial links between the two<br>institutions where students would be given the opportunity to<br>train and volunteer as helms and coaches.<br>One trustee took up a position as BWD representative within a<br>community project where the overarching aim is to promote the<br>health and wellbeing of the community through a variety of<br>projects.<br>BWD also became members of CAN (Community Action<br>Network).|
