||Our work is founded upon principles of inclusion, respect, kindness,
collaboration, personal, social and planetary well-being and social
emancipation. We seek to enable more children and young people to
access the benefits of the expressive arts in a way that feels helpful and
healthy for their unique needs. This involves deliberately providing free
opportunities for those who may be experiencing barriers to access and
inclusion. We believe that the arts can be an effective and enjoyable
vehicle for therapeutic and transformative change both for individuals
and the community. Our participatory classes and campaigns bring real
world issues to light in ways that are inspiring and informative.
Arts Against Adversity benefits from the talents and passion of
enthusiastic and skilled coaches and performance artists. We also draw
upon advice, training and expertise from child psychologists, mental
health workers, youth workers and counsellors.
Our direct work with young people seeks to balance both comfort (where
young people are safe and supported) with appropriate challenge
(promoting resilience and progress). Each project and performance aims
to empower young people to bring out their ‘blueprint of brilliance’ and
develop the wisdom and strength to positively navigate life’s
experiences, opportunities and trials.|
