The Abingdon Passion Play has put on 3 productions, in 2013 (possibly the most successful in terms of the actors interacting with the audience), 2016, and 2019. These have been held in public places in Abingdon, either in the market square or the Abbey grounds, and no entry fee has been imposed on anyone coming to see and hear the play. So we can declare that we have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, although the aforesaid productions were held before we were officially registered as a charity.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)
We seek grants from interested bodies which are in sympathy with our aims.
Volunteers are actively sought to help with the play and associated fundraising activities.

Section D Achievements and performance
When our registration as a CIO took effect in May 2019 we were in a Summary of the main period of reflection on the recent production of the Abingdon Passion achievements of the charity Play held on April 6[th] , on its impact and what we could learn from it for during the year future productions. It was the third APP after the productions in 2013 and 2016. Through May we were involved in a dispute with a company called Event Production Systems (EPS), who had provided the screen and electrics for our production, over a partial failure of the sound system. They agreed to pay £600 in compensation, which the trustees thought was far too small, given the impact the sound defect had on the production, as we had paid them several thousands for their services. The first committee meeting of the Trustees after we became a CIO was held on June 6[th] 2019. Like all other such meetings it took place at St Michael's Church Abingdon. The committee decided to press EPS to increase their offer. However the main part of the agenda was considering the future of the APP, how and when to stage the next production with a possible provision of seating, whether to arrange smaller events to complement it, how to develop our links with schools and how we could get more people to help with fundraising events to enable us to finance the next production. At our next meeting on September 1[st] 2019 we invited someone from a group called Trinity Open Learning to lead our discussion on possible school involvement in the APP. She had many useful ideas about actions we could take, and ones that we should not pursue, so it was a very constructive encounter. The chairman said that we had not heard again from EPS so it was agreed to press them further. The treasurer confirmed that she was standing down which meant there was a need to replace her. The issue of whether we should go for a Dropbox account or other options for data storage was raised and it was agreed to explore this. Our AGM was held on October 24[th] 2019. The chairman gave his report on the April APP production, some lessons learnt from it and possibilities for the future. He said that EPS had told him that it was impossible for them to increase their compensation offer, and the committee had reluctantly decided to accept the offer. The election of trustees was held, and all except the treasurer agreed to stand again. One trustee consented to act as interim treasurer until a replacement could be found. In the discussion which followed one person present said she had been to a Passion Play conference in Edinburgh where there had been a fruitful exchange of ideas. It was accepted that a new director and producer were needed to be recruited for the next production. The next committee meeting was held on January 26[th] 2020. It was now felt that we should begin planning for the next production, although it was not yet clear if this should happen in 2022 or later. There was a discussion following on from our last meeting on our interaction with schools and their religious syllabus. As we had agreed to consider what script we should use next time, a person who had written one for another Passion Play in 2022 was invited to the meeting. Could we use existing scripts e.g. from the musical Godspell and learn from Passion plays elsewhere? One trustee was going to St Niklaas in Belgium in April to see their play, and three of us agreed to go to nearby Chinnor to see theirs. In the event both productions were cancelled due to the pandemic. We discussed the issue of recruiting more committee members. Someone had shown interest in becoming treasurer which was encouraging. The chairman announced that he was standing down in a

year's time, though remaining a trustee, so he would be need to be replaced. The next meeting was scheduled for the end of April, but in March we were struck by the lockdown from COVID which put all our plans on hold. The meeting was cancelled and there were no further developments by August except that happily the prospective treasurer agreed to serve in that post as a trustee.
The uncertainty created by COVID put in question the viability of an APP production in 2022, especially because each production requires not only a period of rehearsal beforehand but also a long period of fundraising to enable the production to take place. (The developments since August 2020 have only confirmed this). This uncertainty is indicated by inactivity in the accounts. They show a few transactions to close off the April 2019 production which were the payment of some outstanding expenses and the paying in of donations for some earlier fundraising events.
