BambersGrèen 8roup (who alsooperated out of Brook Cottage Farml w35 hawngto close, butwe have rnanaged to take on some of their riders, to create the fifth Session on a Thursday. We have chan8ed the times of sessions io fil this sn. some of the Éaps between sessions (which we had introduced due to Covidl, we have now erased. Sever81 of our volunteers have trained to be part of the mounting and disrnounting team 50 can help with Ètbn¥ rider5 on and off. During the yearmany of OUT rider5 8ainedtheiT ProfidencyT¢sts1evel l or2. Some are working toward5 level 3. We will beworking on Showlumplng Level I with most of our riders from rhis term. Partlcipants have enjoyed Several Endurance sessions. where we measure how muth 8roundwÈ tover per 5es5ion and considertogether how riders and ponies are physically and mentally respondingto the sieady exercise. From the eady Summer term, participants have a150 enjoyed several excursions on horseback up the new track, looking at and discussing the different plants, insects. otherwildlife and the weather. Poppies, buttercups. dandelions, thistles louchll. varlous butterflles. bees. beetles, red kltes, buzzards. crows. swallows.sackdaws. pheasants. a hare and some deer afitlers were all spotted. These 8dventures have been brilliant for stirnulating interestingconversations going up there really does feel like a real thar&eof scene. Volunteer rtcrnltment has been going well. With our adult participant drivin& theycamefirst in the RDA Fancy Dress Competition. and third in the D¥18 for the Disabled Dre55a8e. With h child pèrticipant then driviri& they came fifth in the Driving forthe Ois&bled Cones cempetr(ion. The Countess of Wessex Presented them with their rosettes. It wa5 a fabulou5. 5ucce5sful day out that we wi11 all remember. 2 CD coaches did their Safeguardin8 CertificatÈ inAu8USt and one wa5 reassessed as a CD coach in September. In additionto ourthree established partitipant5. we have several new driver5'. one lidywho was riding in the riding school butfinding it more difficult. another ladywho drives weekly on a Friday. and new driverwho was a Paralympian athlete. The rÈsulting clip on ITV A Trglia News was a very positpie piete which we and RDA arevery happy abLXrt. Everything was organised byone of HertslEssex velunteers. The new participant would liketo carry on leamin8 to drive with us. Forthe event we borrowd a carriage (from Elizabeth Curt15 RDAI which takes wheelchairs. We are currently in discussion with RDA and Elizobeth Curtis group to see if we might be ableto keepthis c4rrioge45 wewill need it ènd we have had quite a few enouiries from other wheelchairuser5. We do have so many new enquiries about carri3ge driving. It would be useful tohave 50rn¢ of our newvolunteersjoin the Driwn8Tearn, as sometimes we can't EO Out due to lack of people on the ground. Forthe first twodays in August. one CD coach wentto the CBV31ier Centre in 5hropshire on 3 trainittg ¢oursef¢r carriage driving coaches called Coach theCoa¢h. This will come in useful as theteatn are Starting to train three potential newcoa£hes. The driving tearn are goin¥ on another carria DvlvlnKTraininK Day at BarrLW Farm in E55ex with Freddie Iponyl and his carriage, next Sunday. One participant will attend with u5 and hopefully be inspired for a51 the carriage driving adventures they has ahead of them. Fundralslng We have been going fu114team ahead on fijndralsing forthe Sensory Track. One of our trustees made a great fundrai51n8 document and has been applying for funding from various sources. In Aprll we did our sponsored ride, the BIB Pèlham Pony Plod. Rlders made a huge effort to raise money and with sponsorship and cake-sale money we ralsed almost £2000. Atthe show in July, we ran a little Féte for the first time which brou@ht in a few hundred with games suth as The Golden Bucket. Hook a Duck and Guess the number of Sweets in the lar. At the show In September we rdll our second Pantomlme Horse Grand Natlonal. Thi5 year Brook Cottage Farm Pony Club jolned with us to spend several hours making their own horses a5 Part of their Charity Badge, and with another few hours rehearsal time we managed to make it more of a theatrical event. Thls worked really well and I thlnk we can work to develop thi5, Imaybe even take it as an event to other places, such as the Polo Clubl. We raised £245 from bets with another £100 just in donations that day. 2 of our toachesltrLSStees went to Elsenham Golf Club QLEIZ Night to talk to them about the work our group do and the Sensory Track. The club chose us as their Charity of the Year and have given us two wonderful donations alreadv. Over the last few months, we have also had very supportive donations from the Freemasons. Satellltè Rotary. Dunmow Rotsry and Helplng Herts. 2 CD coaches and one volunteer last weekend went to meet walkers from Grove Cottage who were participating in Helping Herts Big Walk 2023. They met up with them with Bruce's carriage and took them for a drive around Patmore Heath. We hope this will help foster good relations with them. In July, London Stansted Airport Communlty Fund Eave us £5000 towards the track. We construtted the loom at the top of the field with this. which we have called The Runwav. Stansted Alrport are coming to see The Runway at the end of Ottober Ithe Friday of half- tern) at 2pm, for your diarlesl and are bringin8 a well-known MP for a photo opportunlty. In August, Herts and E55ex Borders very kindly gave us a donation of £5(K)O towards the track. This paid for the surface on the 'Runway'. In September the Catherlne Wheel pub did a quiz night for us. There were three tables from our group, who all tied in 3rd placel Wlth the raffle, the night raised £626.

There are more fund5 coming in: a riderfrom the riding School has a grandfather who holds a Christmas Lights event at his house every year and this year he is raising funds for usl So. .we have constructed the first 220m up the field, and the Stansted Runway bit which is l(K)m along the top of the field. This means we have tompleted 320m already and now we only have the 210m down the fence to do to finish the whole half-kilometre Iwell 530m technically!) loop. This last sertion should cost £20,000. Work on dressing the track has begun, with the construrtion of a pond, some archways with climbers, many potted herb5. and some fun signposts. We have lots of lavender and trees coming soon, which will need a couple of planting days and volunteers to help water them. We launched a GoFundMe the other day online. It has already lin a few days) raised £540. It is useful to keep this running, as over the last months people have often asked where they can donate and if we have a fundraising page. The track seems to have caught people's imaginations now, and I thlnk we are on track Ino pun intended) to raise enough to finish the project, hopefully over the next year. Thank you letters have been going out to our donor5, With more to do all the time, it seemsl (which is a good thingll With the letters we enc105e pictures of the track in use. so donors can See how much this new resource is being enjoyed already. In Conclusion Events at Brook Cottage Farm RDA are very busy and exciting. There is scarcely a dull moment.
