Melanoma–me Foundation Annual Report of the Trustees for the year ending 30 April 2021
Aims and Objectives
Melanoma-Me Foundation are a team of counsellors, support workers and holistic therapists who provide psychological support for patients and carers who are experiencing the anxiety of a melanoma diagnosis. We are an organisation that truly understands the complexity and trauma involved in diagnosis and living with Melanoma.
We run one to one, family therapy and groups for people who are living with melanoma as well as bereavement groups for the families and friends of a loved one lost to the disease.
We also run awareness sessions across the nation and our work with the beauty industry, (who are in a prime position to recognise suspicious lesions on their clients) have brought about the early diagnosis of over 52 melanomas.
Melanoma is still a very much misunderstood disease. It’s not ‘just’ skin cancer, it’s a deadly heartbreaking disease that could affect anyone at any time. Awareness is vital for prevention and early detection.
The aims of the charity is to provide a one stop holistic safe space for anyone affected by melanoma and a place where people can come and spend the day where the focus is solely on improving mental health and promoting wellness.
Finance
Melanoma-Me Foundation will continue to raise valuable funds to be able to provide the services currently on offer by;
*fundraising with community through planned events
- Raising awareness with the community through paid workshops
Selling sun protection related items Selling items that improve mental health
Plans for the future
Melanoma-Me Foundation plan to continue to provide the counselling and support services moving forward. The plan is to work with other charities and agencies to help support more service users. Although our team has grown substantially in the past year, we would like to develop the team further as well as services. We are expanding the holistic side of the services we provide by running meditation groups and one to one sessions. This is in addition to the peer group sessions and family support.
We plan to convert our awareness sessions so that they can be available to access online and this is in its final stages of development.

Independent examiners’ report to the Trustees of Melanoma-me Foundation
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Melanoma-me Foundation (the trust) for the year ended 30 April 2021, which are set out on page 6.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trustee’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioner. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I can confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:-
-
(a) accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
(b) the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
