**including a dedicated QR code. Regular**
**news sheets are distributed to people**
**whom connect and approve circulation**
**through our website.**
**This year has been a year like we would**
**never have imagined. Receiving reports**
**from Morocco it was very upsetting to**
**find that so many equines were being**
**abandoned during the pandemic. Two of**
**our trustees have visited Morocco and**
**have been able to verify that the Jarjeer**
**and Mule and Donkey refuge have not**
**refused to take an animal in distress.**
**The nature of the injuries of the**
**Donkeys and the mules so much more**
**serious and in previous years.**| |||**The Refuge has taken over 100 extra**
**equines including, for the first time,**
**horses. This is required extra stabling**
**and the trust has been able to assist in**
**that regard. There are two other major**
**charities in Morocco who have assisted**
**working animals over the years but**
**they're only able to offer hospital**
**facilities and have made it quite clear**
**that they are not rescue organisations. It**
**is clear from reports that we have**
**received so many working animals will**
**not be replaced as owners will rely more**
**on mechanised vehicles.**
**The priority during the pandemic has**
**been to ensure that suffering is reduced,**
**the animals are treated and equines are**
**fed. The Jarjeer Refuge now houses 200**
**equines including 15 stallions and five**
**mares. Inevitably many have died and**
**are buried with dignity on the Refuge's**
**land. We are aware that discussions are**
**ongoing between the local authority in**
**Marrakech and the refuge itself as to**
**future cooperation to provide increased**
**welfare for equines how do most**
**importantly reduce the public health risk**
**resulting from the abandonment of**

**have been saved from starvation**
**resulting in a painful death but also to**
**the wider public as a whole who have**

**This view has been confirmed by the**
**Wali (the Governor of the Marrakech and**
**Safi Region), and the Marrakech**
**Municipality who want to partner with**
**the Jarjeer Refuge. This is an important**
**step forward in terms of animal welfare.**
**The Refuge continues to provide**
**services to many Caleche horses in**
**Marrakech who were starving as a result**
**of the absence of tourists and owners**
**loss of income. Representative of the**
**Caleche Horse Association participated**
**in meetings with the Municipality,**
**The Refuge continues to take mules and**
**donkeys from various parts of the**
**country such as Casablanca, Rabat,**
**Tangier and south of Agadir. They**
**undertake a considerable amount of**
**outreach work and advise owners in**
**surrounding area. Calls for assistance**

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 1.
