Executive Summary and Activities, Achievements & Performance
KSCA was formed in March 2018 to enable social inclusion of the members, through taking part in activities designed to promote their physical and emotional wellbeing.
The success of KSCA led its members to elevate the association to the next framework. On 15 May 2019, KSCA was successfully registered with Charity Commission for England & Wales.
During the first year as a registered charity, KSCA has met a number of milestones including successfully securing funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. This funding enabled KSCA to hire a venue and to hold weekly yoga classes for members. Yoga mats were also purchased for members, using the funding, which encouraged attendance.
During the monthly meetings, members identified issues which led to a seminar being held to promote the well being of the members and this was attended by the Mayor and Kent Equality Cohesion Council.
It was expected that further events, aimed at improving member's health & wellbeing would take place, including a wellness retreat, however, unfortunately the unprecedented times, during the second year, were disruptive to this.
The objective was to resume these activities, however, Covid restrictions were not fully removed. There were no activities or meetings that took place during 2020, to avoid placing members' health at risk, as social distancing could not be adhered to.
During the third year, in 2021, some activities were resumed, however, these centred around the Covid vaccination programme and some individuals were also not socially active due shielding.
Following on from this, during 2022, we were able to resume monthly meetings and held discussions for support with mental and physical wellbeing.
We were also able to secure the same venue to re-start weekly exercise classes, which centres around yoga.
We arranged quarterly social events, to raise awareness of topical issues after the pandemic, with guests attending, such as from the local social cohesion charity, for members which included a meal.
