I am happy to report that the Community Association continues to grow and over the past 12 months has continued to deliver a first-class service to the Community as per its Policy Statement listed in our constitution.
The number of activities and events which have taken place at our headquarters continues to grow and attract many new visitors.
From September 2023 we have been delighted to further serve our community by being able to (with some major changes) to house St. Annes R.C. school (70 pupils and 10 staff) at our building following a report condemning their school as unsafe due to RAAC (defective concrete).
We are shortly to be signing an agreement with the D.O.E. which will allow St. Annes to continue to provide a first-class learning experience until March 2024. There is flexibility in the contract which will allow the D.O.E. to further extend should it be deemed necessary.
The Association is embarking on an ambitious plan to construct a 4g artificial football pitch on one of our existing grass pitches. This project has been forced upon us due to several factors:
1, Gateshead Councils financial situation which has resulted in several sports fields not being maintained by the Council leading to an acute shortage of facilities in the Borough.
2, Our football membership has increased, forcing us to hire pitches when available outside of Gateshead both for matches and training. This is particularly relevant to girls' football which following the success of the Womens National game has resulted in a healthy increase in participation.
We are hopeful that following the signing of the contract between Cleveland Hall and the D.O.E. the additional financial benefits will enable the Association to fulfil its ambitious plans through self-funding, grants, and commercial loans.
