Additional commentary on expenditure
Beehive Project
This project started by Mr and Mrs Murray (teachers at SDCC) provides breakfast for students who have been identified as coming from homes where there is insufficient food for them to get breakfast before leaving for school. Expenditure has been used to provide food and drink supplies for these students, (NB: Pupil Premium funds do not cover these costs).
Ten Tors Equipment
Twelve complete sets of Ten Tors equipment were funded for the school’s Ten Tors teams – these were specifically targeted at students who would not have been able to take part in the event without this support.
Teachers’ Resources Requests
During the summer of 2019, FOSDA asked teachers for requests for funding for resources which would not normally be funded by departmental budgets. Decisions on the allocation of funding took place during a FOSDA committee meeting (3[rd] July 2019). The allocations are listed below:
| Lorraine Hewitt on behalf of Geography |
Posters, maps & equipment to enhance the student experience |
£350 |

Garden Supplies
The grounds at SDCC were identified as needing a facelift and alongside this one donation was made explicitly to enable work on the gardens to take place. From this funding plants and timber paint were bought.
FOSDA Equipment
Coffee cups were bought in order to sell drinks at various concerts, dance shows, etc. in return for donations from parents in aid of FOSDA. The money raised at the Body Language Festival (£152) offset this outlay.

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | FOSDA was initiated in December 2018 and fund-raising and parental donations between this time and the start of the period covered by this annual return generated £912. The organisation received its approval as a Charity from the Charities’ Commission on 14thMay 2019. During the period of this annual return £11,480 was raised which represented a significant effort in terms of fund-raising events and successful applications for grants (especially as fundraising events ceased following the COVID pandemic). Through these funds, the security of the Beehive project which provides breakfasts for students who would otherwise not eat before school has been secured, 12 sets of equipment have been bought for students undertaking the Ten Tors challenge; and several other Teacher Resources Requests have been funded. At all times we have sought to enhance the school experience for all of SDCC’s students; to provide a positive environment for learning; and to portray SDCC as a valued part of the Ashburton (and wider catchment area’s) community. |
