Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | July 2022 our long awaited first festival happened. Much work and preparation went into it. Approximately 550 people attended and 4 people, that we know about, came to faith. We heard testimonies of longstanding believers being reignited. People ‘stuck’ in their faith gain a sense of release. Those seeking came and fellowshipped with believers and now they go to church together. We heard reports from ladies who attended by themselves commenting on how ‘safe’ Lionheart Festival felt. Tourism – the festival brought over 40 band members and their cars over to the island all requiring ferries and accommodation. Also festival goers came from the mainland also requiring ferries and accommodation. People extended their stays to enjoy the Isle of |
Wight, visit family and friends and visit other churches and local attractions. We were blessed by a local business who sponsored a Buy One Get One Free Ticket to encourage relational evangelism, as believers could offer tickets to not yet believing family members, friends, colleagues at no extra charge. This was a powerful demonstration of community working together. Lionheart Festival brought the community together with the BOGOF tickets but also secular trades working alongside Christian volunteers, thus demonstrating the power of relational evangelism. We had testimonies from caterers and emergency services providers saying how blessed they were by the festival and how they would like to come back. Believers from across the Island and the mainland were able to join together in Unity as the bible commands and praise God. Also be encouraged and taught by speakers and preachers. Through social media and visiting worship leaders, Lionheart UK has been progressing its coverage and has been connecting with churches via zoom and live meetings, providing Churches across the Isle of Wight and beyond a platform to share information and connect.
Also Lionheart UK sponsored a worship leader going into a local school, leading assemblies and encouraging young teenagers to write worship songs of their own. Using this as a great opportunity to reach out and spread the gospel message.
Many local suppliers were employed / used therefore bringing more trade to the Island.

To: The Trustees of Lionheart UK
Independent examiner’s report to the Trustees of Lionheart UK Charity for the year ended 31[st] May 2023
I report on the accounts of the Lionheart UK Charity for the year ended 31[st] May 2023, which is set out on one page.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
