Trustees’ Annual Report for the Period

From 01/04/2024 Period start date To 31/03/2025 Period end date

Charity name: Pensby High School Foundation Trust

Charity registration number: 1183345

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The Foundation aims to promote and
provide for the advancement of education; in
particular
to
assist
and
support
the
education of students at Pensby High
School. Funds to be released to the school
will be used directly to increase the provision
of teaching and learning for the students at
Pensby
High
School.
The
Trust
is
responsible for the use of its assets to raise
funds for PensbyHigh School itself.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The Trust oversees the assets and value of
the Pensby High School Trust site. The
Trust income is currently devolved to the
governors for use within the school because
Wirral Borough Council has directed under
its Scheme for Financing Schools (currently
applicable from January 2025 but continuing
previous instructions under its previous
Schemes for Financing Schools) that
schools pay self-generated income into the
school bank account and that school
governors (rather than charity trustees of the
charitable trust) are responsible for the
same. Because of this the charity’s direct
income for thisperiod is zero.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The trustees are aware of the guidance and
their duties and responsibilities. The School
and Trust have been engaged with Wirral
Local Authority since 2023 with regard to the
Trust’s position vis-a-vis the statutory
guidance pertaining to maintained schools
found
within
the Wirral
Scheme
for
Financing Maintained Schools. Whilst the
Trust and the Local Authority are in receipt
of guidance from the Charity Commission,
the Trust and associated school are still
working with the Local Authority to ensure
that the Local Authority’s statutory guidance
is in line with guidance issued by the Charity
Commission.
