Trustees Report Transforming Lives Today

– Mission Statement April 2022 March 2023

Transforming Lives Today giving Hope, Dignity and a Future to vulnerable communities, especially children in deprived areas in India such as villages, slums, leper colonies and orphanages.

TLT work in partnership with local communities to see the lives of vulnerable children and adults transformed through Education , Healthcare and Community Development . The charity’s aim is to establish Learning and Medical Centres in these communities. The learning centres are run by local teachers and community leaders.

The TLT medical centres and dispensaries are staffed with doctors and nurses from local hospitals on a voluntary basis. The work of TLT includes:

Organisational set up of TLT

TLT has four trustees and 2 missionaries, Sozos and Des Sozou (TLT team).

TLT through Sozos and Des seek to develop strong relationships with local community leaders, doctors and pastors in the areas where TLT would like to introduce Educational and Health care programs.

Before Sozo and Des travel to India meetings are arranged between the trustees, Sozos and Des to plan and prepare for their trips. This planning would include the purchase of food,

medical supplies and any equipment for the Learning Centres or medical camps and liaising with the local contacts and teams in India, so that when the TLT team arrive everything is in place.

When the TLT team return to Europe the local teams which Sozo and Des have helped set up continue the work of the learning centres and medical camps.

On returning to Europe the TLT team give a full account of the work they have been involved in. These reports include all financial transactions. Sozo and Des encourage volunteers from Europe to travel with them when they visit India

The local TLT teams that have been set up to run the learning centres and medical camps report to Sozo and Des, there is excellent communication between them. The local teams report monthly to TLT and at other times as needs arise. They are very dedicated and have proven to have a heart for all they do in improving the lives of those in the local communities of which they are part.

Fund Raising.

The Achievements of Transforming lives Today(TLT) - from May 2021 May 2022

Due to the generous giving of TLT supporters Sozo and Des were able to travel to India in October 21 to visit and initiate food and medical programs and offer support to the local TLT workers. Due to the excellent communication system that TLT has built up with local community leaders over the past years and especially through the last pandemic Sozo and Des were warmly greeted in India and were able to see first-hand the wonderful work which TLT are doing in India

1. Food program in Sathymangalam and Kadampar villages

TLT under the inspirational leadership of Sozo and Des were able to put on three much needed food programs in the mountainous area of the Sathymangalam and Kadampar villages. A local pastor who is a much valued friend of TLT organised the distribution of food that TLT supplied to the people in the villages. They are far from any town or city or medical services.

Des reports of the thankfulness which the villagers showed because of the love and practical kindness shown to them.

2. The Learning centres

Sozo and Des were able to visit the learning centres which they had set up for young children, especially among the Fox tribe. For some of these children in the learning centres this is ideal preparation for them to enter the school system in their area.

3. Medical programs

TLT have pioneered a new work in the isolated Assam area of India. Des and Sozo local contact Rahoul was able to set up a

number of medical programs, which were greatly appreciated. There is on conversations to explore ways that TLT can further serve the local communities in this area.

TLT are looking to set up a local community space and medical room.

This community space will be built in December 2023. TLT now has the funds for this work. They are grateful for the loyal and generous base of supporters that they have and are looking to grow this base so that they can have a deeper impact on the local communities they serve in India
