## **2. Structure, Governance and Management** 

ADNE is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered in England and Wales. The charity is governed by its constitution, adopted upon registration. 

The Executive Team meets every 4–6 weeks to oversee governance, strategic direction, and operational delivery. Thanks are extended to Trustee Julie Bliss for leadership of the ADNE Archive Project, which continues to preserve the organisation’s history and contribution to the profession. 

ADNE acknowledges the contributions of outgoing members Shirley Willis and Hilary Thompson, and notes the temporary leave of Bethany Hill, whose responsibilities will be covered by the Executive. 

New Deputy Chairs—Rachel Doubleday (England), Janice Reid (Northern Ireland), and Teresa Davies and Alison Williams (Wales)—will be formally elected at the AGM.

## **3. Objectives and Activities** 

- a. **Promoting community and district nursing care in the UK** , particularly through resources and opportunities that enhance education, skills, and clinical practice. 

- b. **Supporting research** into community and district nursing practice and disseminating useful findings for public benefit. 

The charity supports: 

- Community nurses 

- The general public (indirectly through improved care) 

ADNE delivers its charitable purpose by: 

- Providing advice and information to support high-quality community care 

- Disseminating research to practitioners 

- Offering grants for further education 

- Delivering free educational events across the UK

## **4. Achievements and Performance (2024–25)** 

## **4.1 Conferences, Events, and Member Engagement** 

- The annual November conference and Ordinary General Meeting attracted **112 attendees** , with highly positive feedback on content, inclusivity, and representation from all four nations. 

- The 2025 Summer Hybrid Conference welcomed **over 80 participants** across in-person and online formats. 

- ADNE supported members’ professional development through grants enabling attendance at national and international conferences, including QNI and ICCNR events. 

## **4.2 Programme Development, Apprenticeships, and Regulatory Change** 

- The SPQDN apprenticeship sub-group, led by Louise Boole, met four times and provided essential guidance to universities. 

- Following the Department for Education’s announcement restricting Level 7 apprenticeship funding from January 2026, ADNE initiated cross-organisational discussions to influence future funding models. 

- ADNE continues to support universities seeking approval or reapproval of amended SPQ DN programmes in partnership with QICN. 

## **4.3 Practice Assessment and Quality Assurance** 

- The ADNE SPQ Practice Assessment Document (PAD) is now used by **22 universities** across England and Scotland. 

- Thanks are extended to the development group and to Oxford Brookes University for securing initial NMC approval of the SPQ PAN PAD.

- ADNE has taken responsibility for producing the annual SPQ Education Report with QICN and QNIS. 

- Links have been re-established with the National District Nursing Network, contributing to national discussions on digital nurse education. 

- ADNE members contributed extensively to the third edition of _The Textbook of Community Nursing_ (December 2024).

- A new quarterly forum has been established with QICN, NDNN, and the RCN District and Community Nursing Forum.

## **5. Financial Review** 

## **5.1 Overview** 

Income for the year was **£2,081.36** , a slight reduction from the previous year (£1,900 to £1,730 in subscriptions), partly due to no longer charging Associate Members £10. 

Expenditure totalled **£2,216.59** , including: 

- £560 to support nurses attending the QNI conference 

- £733 to support four nurses attending the ICCNR conference 

- £450 for marketing pens 

- £384 for Simmetrics (MyClubhouse) 

- £112.59 for sundry event expenses 

- £60 bank charges 

The charity opened a new Co-op bank account to avoid bank charges, though ongoing issues with GoCardless recognising the account remain unresolved. 

## **5.2 Reserves Policy** 

The charity holds unrestricted reserves to ensure continuity of operations and to support future educational grants and activities.

## **6. Plans for Future Periods** 

ADNE will focus on: 

- 

- Supporting universities through QICN endorsement processes 

- Reviewing and updating the SPQ PAD annually 

- Expanding partnerships with national organisations 

- Enhancing digital education resources for community nursing 

- Continuing to deliver high-quality conferences and educational events

## **7. Trustees’ Responsibilities Statement** 

The elected Treasurer, on behalf of the Trustees, is responsible for preparing the 

2011 and applicable regulations. 

They must: 

- Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently 

- Make reasonable and prudent judgements and estimates 

- State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed 

- 

The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records and safeguarding the charity’s assets.

The charity was entitled to exemption from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006. 

Members did not require an audit under section 476.
