OBJECTIVES AND ACTivmES
The objectlves of The Plpellne Trust 1.the Chariv), as specified in its governing document, are to
advance such charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as the trustee5 see fit
from time to time.
The activfjtles undertaken by the Trustees to satisfy these objertives comprtse the awarding of grants
to organisations Iprim3rily other charfcies and voluntary bodies) and individuals throughout England
and Wales for the general public benefft.
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the 8uidance
publlshed by the Charity Commission on public benefit when rewewing the Charl￿% aims and
objectives, In plannin8 future actNtties and in setting the grant making policy for the period.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PEFORMANCE
The Charity has been able to support a number of dlfferent charitable causes, with the main themes
being.. the health and wellbeing of young peo￿e. the support of people with disabilities and illnesses.
as well as research into medical developments, especialfy relating to Type l Diabetes. The Trustee
hope is that even relatively Small amounts of money can make a big difference when applièd to the
right charitsble organisation. These grants have been very gratefully received.
Further details regarding the grants awarded in the period are set out in Note 2 to the èccounts.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
During the year the Charty received donations totalllng £31,085 {2022: £25.OCKII representing part of
a series of regular annual donation from The Newcombe Estates Company Limited. the amount of
which depend on the Companfs profrtabllity.
The Newcombe Estate5 coM￿nY Limited Is a private Ilm6ted company Sn whlch the Trustees are all
shareholders and Mr R.W. Newcombe and Mrs A.C. Houghton are directors.
The funds receNed in the year were added to cash reserves brought fonNard of £2,17612022: £4.176}
and a totsl of £27,91J)12022: £27.0001 was dlstributed by way of grants to charitable organisations
providing educational. religious, health. social care,. and humanitarian relief services at either a local.
national or international level.
The Trustees provide thelr servi￿5 without remuneration and no funds were spent on support costs
in the year or in the previous year.
Reserves poli&y
The Trustee5 expect that the Charity will have few overheads and. therefore, will have a Ilmlted
requlrement for feserves. Their objettive will be to identify organisations worthy of support so that
the Charivs income is distributed on an annual basis and cash reserves will be retained at a level that
they conslder appropriate to meet any liabiltties as they fall due and to enable the Charity to respond
in a timely fashion to urgent appeals from deserving causes.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Charlty is governed by a consrftutlon dated 3 May 2019 and rt was registered as a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission on that same day.
The members of the Charity are its trustees. who are the onty persons eligible for membership, and
their membership will automatically end when they cease to be a trustee.
The initial trustees were appointed for their lifetime and they may appoint addltlonal trustoos, at a
duly convened meetin& for teThs at their absolute discretion.

In selecting individua15 for appointmert a5 trustees, regard will be given to the skills. knowledge and
experlence needed for the effertNe management of the Chafity.
New trustees will be briefed on their legal obligations under charity law. the content of the
constitution, the decision making pro￿55e5 and the recent financial performance of the Charity. All
trustees wlll be encouraged to attend appropriate external training events where these will facilitate
the undertaking of their role.
