Isle of Wight Island Games Association 169 Staplers Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2DP Registered Charity 1183237 Trustees Annual Report Year Ending 31/10/2024

The Charity and the work of the Trustees has a 2 year cycle of activity to match with the delivery of the Isle of Wight Team to each International Island Games. With no games in the last year this has been an opportunity for the Trustees to ensure that we have sufficient resources in place for the next games which will take place in Orkney during July 2025.

The Trustees have reviewed the charity financial controls, risk register and policy. They have also reviewed other policy documents in respect of organisational risks, safeguarding and bullying. These have been undertaken whilst also ensuring that the outline arrangements for taking the Isle of Wight Team to Orkney have been made.

Two members of the Trustee team travelled to Orkney in July in order to review the arrangements for the games and attend the AGM of the International Island Games Association.

Based on this visit the Trustees made further attempts to secure sponsorship and charitable donations to assist with the delivery of their main aim to ensure the Isle of Wight is able to send the best possible team to the Games in 2025.

Sponsorship has been secured from various local businesses which will support this effort. This includes some sponsorship “in kind” through the provision of team uniform and cross solent travel at zero cost to the Charity and competitors and cash donations which will be used towards reducing; accommodation costs, Therapy support, additional travel costs and fees to the International IGA.

The Trustees are mindful of the need to keep working together to find the best possible arrangements for the team to attend the games. The Trustees continue to work with the various sports governing bodies on the Isle of Wight to deliver this objective.

In the next year the focus of action by the Trustees will be very much on delivering the Isle of Wight team at the games in Orkney.

Risk Management Statement:

The Trustees acknowledge that they are responsible for the management of the Charity in accordance with guidance from the Charity Commission.

The Trustees continually assess the impact of the changing social and economic conditions on their ability to provide for their charitable objectives in advancing amateur sport on the Isle of Wight and supporting sportspeople from the Island to attend the Biennial International Island Games.

The Trustees work as a team to identify and assess risks within their area of operations. During the 2023/24 charity year the Trustees created risk registers to monitor the risks to the Charity from:
