The year has indeed a year of enormous challenge for the whole world due to the challenging post pandemic economic crisis faced by families, which is even worse with families from the ethnic

minority communities especially the Africa ethnic minority background. This s made worse because a lot of them did not have access to mainstream benefit support systems, instead they must rely on the meagre support they can get from there faith groups and community associations.

Bolton CDP was able to work with partner community associations and faith groups to develop projects that was designed to help reach out to members of the ethnic minority groups to them build towards post pandemic and most of all give them hope.

## Youth Training Program

This project is aimed at the need for new migrants coming into Bolton and greater Manchester, to learn new skills, to build their confidence and enable them to integrate into their new community. This project has been crucial during the pandemic because so

many members of the community lost their jobs and some of them needed to learn new skills for them to get jobs that would enable them work from home so that they can be able to provide for their families.

Some of the projects done under the Skill for Life are:

1. Gambling awareness Project:

It has been an exciting time during the training’s sessions with young people across Bolton and Manchester. It was an opportunity to talk about the factors leading young people to gambling, how it has affected members of the African community in greater Manchester and how to access support. There was opportunity for role plays. It was exciting. The participants enjoyed the sessions and look forward to more sessions.

Bolton CDP is grateful for the National Lottery for the support provided.

2. Young people mentorship project:

We had a great time with the young people in Halliwell. It was a time of learning and mentorship. There was also time for meal and making new friends. We like

## Grand Ma cooking project tester sessions

The Grand Ma Cooking project is a project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The cooking project is focused on young grandmothers from African background sharing their stories with young Africans in Bolton, on the impact migration had on their favourite traditional African foods and how they have been able to adjust. This tester session is part of the series of tester sessions where the participants try out new recipes learnt from the stories shared by the grand mums. All the tester sessions were packed with fun, and the participants enjoyed them. They eagerly look forward to the next tester session. ## INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT FOR FYE May 2024

## Basis of independent examiner’s report:

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## Independent examiner’s statement:

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

- (1) Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and

- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or

- (2) To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
