approaches to local voluntary and community organisations, approaches to stskeholders, engaging local
networks (e.g Councils for Voluntary Services) and approaches to Business organisations such as Mansfield
Business Improvement District (BID).

l. Colleciing. preserving. interpreting and displaying artefacts that celebrate the history of Coal Mining in
Nottinghamshire;
2. Collecting, preserving. interpreting and displaying artefacts that Celebra￿ Ihe lite of ordinary people in the
Nottinghamshire Coal Mining Communities:
Recreating the unique experience of a coal miner's life, illustraiing its hardships and dangers in a dangerous
environment:
4. Digitising its collectionls) and making that available via the Company's website.,
5. Providing roadshows 10 local schools illustrating key aspects of a coal miners life, Iheir contribution to the
local community and their contribution to the local economy.
Public benefil
The activities both preserve and inspire pride in the heritage of the coal mining indiistry and set out for future
generation5 the traditions of hard work, fellowship and coinmunity that were at the heart of fom]er coal niining
Communities.
The trustees confinn ihat they have complied with the requirements of section 17 of the Chariiies Act 2011 to
have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Achievements #nd performance
l.Celebrated the life of women in the coalfield Communities through our Exhibition, 'Into the Light,.
2.This Exhibitioii has been visited by l 943 visitors to date.
3. Restructured the main coal mining exhibition room to include a coal face eyperience.
4. We held a major consultation through events in schools and the community to inform the design of our
permanent commemorative sciilpture project.
5. We estsblished an In Memorium Exhibition to highlighi Ihe ultimate sacrifice made by Nottinghamshire
coalminit]g families.
Finaneial review
The Trnstees are content that the Charitable Company has a sound financial platfoTm on which to move forward.
Puliry reserve
The Company aims to hold 3 months expenditure as a reserve. The perforn)ance against the reserves policy will
be regularlj. reviewed bj. Board as part of the regular discussion of financial performance. Over the course of the
next financial year, the Company will be seeking to both increase and diversify its income base to improve its
reserves position. This will primarilj. involve increasing and ￿'Idening its fundraising activities and through
application for grant funding. All such activity will be undertaken in line with the current 5 year Business Plan
and in strict adherence to Charity Commission rules.

The fingncial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Chariiies..
Statement of Recommended Practice {applicable to chariiies preparing their accounts in accordance with the
F inancial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021) {issued iii October 20191
(Charities SORP IFRS 102)), the Fillancial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
{FRS 102) alld the Companies Aci 2006.
Basis of preparation
Nottinghamshire Minijig Museum Ltd ineets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are it]itially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise 51ated in the relevant
accounting polic), notes.

The financial stalemeiits have been prepared on a going concem basis.

uncertainties related to events or conditions that may cast significant doubt oli the ability of the charity to

Voluntary income including donations, gifts. legacies and grants that prlivide core funding or are of a general

Donations are recognised when the charity has been notified in m￿lting of both the amount and settlement date.

Grants are recognised when the charity has an entitlement to the funds and any conditions linked ro the grants
have been met. Where performance conditions are attached to the grant and are yet to be met, the income is
recognised as a liability and incliided on the balance sheet as deferred income to be released.

Expenditure
All expcnditiir¢ is r￿Qgnised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to that ¢xp¢nditur¢, it is probable
settlemcnt is required and the amoiint can be measured reliably. All costs are allocated to the applicable
expenditure heading that aggregaie similar costs to that ¢ategnry. Where cost% cannot be dire¢tl}' attribiit¢d to
particular headiiig% they havc been allocated on a basi% con%istent with the use of resoiirces, with Central staff
costs allocated on the basis of time spent, and depreciation charges allocated on the portion of th¢ asset's use.

c.haritable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services
for its beneliciaries. It includes both costs that cai) be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an
indirect nature necessary to support them.
Government grants
Government grants are reeognised based on the accrual model and are measured at the fair value of the asset
received or receivable. Grants are classified as relating either to revenue or to assets. Grants relating to revenue
are recognised in income over the period in which the relaied costs are recognised. Grants relating to assets are
recognised over the expected useful life of the asset. Where part of a grant relating to an asset is deferred, it is
recognised as deferred income.
Taxation
The charity is considered to pass the tests sei out in Paragraph I Schedule 6 of the Finance Act 2010 and
therefore it meets the definition of a charitable company for UK corporation lax purposes. Accordingly, the
chariry is potentially exempt from taxatioii in respect of income or capitsl gains received within categories
covered by Chapier 3 Part I l of the Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Sectioii 256 of the Taxation of Chargeable
Gains Act 1992, to the extent that such it]coJne or gains are applied exclusively to charitable piirposes.
Tangible fixed assets
Individual fixed assets costing £500.00 or more are initially recorded at cost, less any subseqiient accumulated
depreciation and siibsequeiit accumulated iinpainneiit losses.
Depreciation and amortisation
Depreciation is provided 011 tangible fixed assets so as to WTite off the cost or valuation, less any estimated
residual value, over their expected useful econotnic life as follom's..
