Southall Lions Club & West Drayton Branch Club Activities Summary 1[st] July 2021 to 30[th] June 2022
Southall Lions Club CIO and West Drayton Branch Club had continued to remain active in raising funding and serving the community during 2021 – 2022 despite the challenging times due to COVID restrictions.
1. Other Service Activities
We jointly organised diabetes screening at Osterley’s Classic Car Show. In total, 35 people were tested, 1 had raised level and was referred.
We again jointly organised a sponsored walk at Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Rickmansworth. Over 65 people participated and enjoyed a picnic after the walk. A total of £761 was raised for local charities.
Donations were also made in the “Season of Goodwill” just before Christmas where vouchers were donated to Ealing Social Services Leaving Care team. Prepacked fruit and mince pies were delivered to Ealing Hospital.
Over 200 books were also donated to Hamel Hampstead Lions Club Bookshop.
Club also organised an eye camp near Amritsar with the cooperation of Golden Temple Amritsar Lions club.226 patients attended and had their eyes checked and diabetes testing. Free medicines were also provided.
During the year, members have been volunteering at their local Covid 19 vaccination centres plus distributing food in conjunction with Hillingdon Food Bank delivering supplies. Approx. 330 hours have been reported this Lionistic year.

£500 was donated to the National Trust to plant 100 trees to mark the celebrations of 50th, 51st and 52nd Charter Anniversaries of the club.

£312 donated to ‘Guide Dogs’ to sponsor 3 puppies to mark the celebrations of 50th, 51st and 52nd Charter Anniversaries of the club.
