Southall Lions Club & West Drayton Branch Club Activities Summary 1st July 2020 to 30 th June 2021

1. Other Service Activities

• Approx. 14,080 people/meals served during this year. This covered: -

• Cooked meals collected delivered to Southall Food Hall and Muslim Hands-on weekly basis

• Meals collected and delivered to Ealing Hospital on requested days during the lockdown

• Bakery items picked up from LIDL with Customer Donations and delivered to food banks

• Vanload of fresh fruit and vegetables delivered to the Food-hall

• Bakery products picked up from LIDL daily also delivered to Dormers Wells School

• Cakes from Hummingbird Bakeries collected daily and delivered to Southall Street Homeless, Southall Food Bank, Hillingdon Food Bank and Acton Homeless Concern.

• Tinned beans, rice and noodles for 200 people and cakes for 100 people delivered to Feltham and Whitton Lions Club.

• Boxes of cereals and cans of chickpeas, red beans etc delivered to Southall Food Bank.

• 90 cup cakes and one large cake picked up and delivered to Ealing soup kitchen based at the Salvation Army premises in West Ealing. 100 Food bags prepared and delivered too.

• Cooked Meals and boxes of sweet potatoes and tortillas collected and distributed at the food bank.

• A member of the West Drayton Branch distributed food in conjunction with SWAT (a SIKH Charity) delivered meals to households in Greenford and Southall. on a weekly basis for a few months.

• Baby clothing (4 large bags) collected from members' families donated to the baby bank in Southall.

• Presents delivered to Allenby Primary School in Southall covering educational toys and educational board games.

• 15 Sleeping bags delivered to Southall homeless during the winter

• Kids clothing and toys collected from members donated to Southall Food Hall

• A member of the West Drayton Branch distributed food in conjunction with Hillingdon Food Bank delivering meals to households who were self-isolating or in need.

• Members, friends & family worked in the “Food For All” Kitchen in Holborn to cook and package hot meals.

2. Fund Raising:

Hunger

• £550 Food Collection and Food Banks

• £927 raised for Akshaya Patra

• £455 collected from virtual raffle held amongst members

• £600 Funds collected from members only due to restrictions because of Covid 19 pandemic

• £200 received from District 105a Hunger Grant

Environment

• £211 Grant received from LCIF

• £500 raised for Wolf Field Park Fields

Childhood Cancer

• £1,031 - Funds raised for the purpose at a McMillan Coffee morning for donation to McMillan Cancer Cause

• £60 received for Great Ormond Street

Vision

• £2030 - One of the from time to payments towards the running of the Eye Hospital

Other

• £2,758 Collection amongst members to support the Rajkot (India) Club in its efforts to provide oxygen to the needy at the time of extreme shortage of oxygen during the second pandemic wave.

• £150 donated by members towards providing 101 days food supply in India

• £30 raised from Tin Collection

• £210 raised from Club Raffle

• £762 raised towards Lebanon Appeal

• £325 raised for Cauldwell Scholl for welfare

• £590 raised for Toys for Children

• £710 raised for Educational Games for School

• £351 raised for Earth Day

• £400 grant received from Neighbourly

• £375 received for COVID Projects

• £10 received for selling Chutney

• £102 received from District 105a for Sleeping Bags

3. Donations:

Hunger

• £500 Paid in response to the LCIF appeal for funds for food for India during the difficult period of the second wave of the Covid 19 pandemic

• £50 Donated to assist club Greenford Willow Tree for their child hunger project.

• £400 donated to Food Bank

Environment

• £211 Funds donated to school for a raised bed for a small vegetable garden

• £500 Environmental project to set up a raised garden

Childhood Cancer

• £1031 donated to Macmillan Cancer Appeal

• £250 paid to Great Ormond St Hospital in response to an appeal by the hospital to provide accommodation to patient children's families while under treatment

Other

• £2,858 raised and sent to Lions Club Rajkot Aavkar in India for oxygen facilities for Corona sufferers because of shortage there.

• £150 collected and donated to overseas Lions Club Rajkot Aavkar in India to help purchase and supply food to 101 vulnerable families during COVID Pandemic

• £325 donated to Cauldwell Scholl for welfare

• £230 spent purchasing 15 sleeping bags and donated to Southall Homeless

• £590 spent to purchase toys and donated to Dormer Wells School Southall

• £721 spent to purchase board games and stationary items and donated to Dormer Wells School Southall

• £250 donation to the DG's Spouse's chosen charity

• £351 donated to Earth Day for international project.

• £927 donated to Akshay Patra who have been providing with hot meals

• £400 donated to Allenby School for their raised garden project.

• £962 donated to LCI in response of an appeal for funds for the Lebanon explosion disaster

• £1,837 donated to Covid 19 projects
