Structur4 GovernaN¢e anil Management The charity was registered on 18 April 2019. and is a Charitable Incorporated Orgallisation ('CIO'). Fiv¢ charity I￿￿te¢S manage the affairs of the CIO (2023 - five). Re¢ruitm¢ni of n¢w tsvstees is undertaken by the exisling trusÉees. Objec¢ives and Aetivities The objects ofthe CIO are io r¢liev¢ poverty, si¢kn¢ss, n¢¢d or hdrdship by supplying hygien¢ traioing and water purificaiion equiprn¢nt tv hotn¢s, schools. health and community celltres. and refugee camps. in Afric￿ or in other arts of the world as the tru5tee5 may from time to time think fit. Achievements, Performance and Public Benefit The CIO has coniinued to engage in the provision and monitoring ofwater purification equipment across both East and West Africa workin¥ with OUT ￿allo￿al and regional Lifewater teams in Uganda. K¢lly￿ Rwanda and Sierra Leune. The CIO h&8 undertaken four Lif¢water Village distributions across Ugand4 and one Village dTSt￿￿ution in Kai14thun, Sicrfd Lcone, thereby providing Lifewater systems to around 650 families and a few schools and h¢alth facilitie5. The CIO has also undertaken Lif¢wat¢r distributions in Kyaka11 Refugee Settlem¢ni in Wesi¢m Ugand4 working with our funding partner Wat¢r Works. seven distributions in Kyaka 11 Refugee Settlemeni.- th¢reby providing Lif¢wai¢r sysiem5 to around 1943 families in those settlements. In September 2024. Lifewater provided water purification systems to four larg¢ schools and two Health Centres as part of a pilot programme in Kyaka 11 Settlement. Ov¢r th¢ ￿Urs¢ of lh¢ year a number of homes have had their Lifewater systems reconditioned in Uganda as th¢ need has arisen, Iher¢by providing ongoing sustainability to thc Projects. There were two main monitoring exercises condutted across ug￿d4 Rwanda and Kenya during the ¢ourse of the year. 'I'he results of these exercises were extremely encourdging WTth very go(wA usage and maintenance of the l.ifewatcr systems. In July 2024 a onc-day training ¢v￿t took plac¢ in Ky¢g¢gwa. UgandA for th¢ Lif¢water National and Kyaka 11 teams. Alongsid¢ our usual training progrdmmes, the Lifewater teatn5 have continued to train local recipients on health and hygiene issues. '1l)roughout the year. two of the UK 'I'rustees, Roger and Glenys London. travelled to Uganda to observe Lifewaier distributions tsking place in Kyaka 11 Refugee SettleTnent. 'fwo other UK TnLStee& Alistair and Lorraine Patience, vi51t¢d Si¢rra Leone in NoY¢mber 2024. wh¢r¢ a Lif¢watw distribution was held in Nyanyahun Village, Kailahun District. In the coming year, depending on ongo&ng sponsorship, the pLan is to hold a fijrther Lifewater Village distribution in Sierra Leone, to continue distributions An the Kyaka 11 Refugee Settlement, and to tiuther the schools and Healtl) Centre Pfrloi Project in Kyaka 11 Settlement. The Refugee Settlement work may a]so extend to Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda. As fund5 pemiil, relonditioning work will also tsk¢ plac¢ across UEand4 Rwanda and Kenya. The Iru5tee5 consider they have complied with the duty in swtion 4 of th¢ Charities Act 2012 to have due regard to the publi¢ benefil guidance published by the Cbarity Commission.
