Structure and details of how it is managed, including how it recruits trustees:

The community centre is managed by a voluntary committee of six people, a voluntary steering group, and a salaried caretaker who manages the day to day running of the opening and closing of the centre and management of any bookings.

Committee meetings take place several times throughout the year, with additional meetings including the steering group. An annual general meeting is held where all user groups, local councillors and residents are invited to attend. At this meeting recruitment of new trustees is encouraged and for interested parties to register their interest to become involved. Committee members are elected during the annual general meeting.

Activities and objectives in the year:

Achievements and performance:

It has been another positive year at the community centre. We have continued to welcome new users and maintain a strong number of regular user groups. With thanks to the dedication of committee and steering group volunteers we have been successful in managing another year of continued use of the community centre. The volume and breadth of enquiries for bookings shows we are successfully attracting new users to discover the centre, but also ensure the centre is seen as an attractive space for our local community to continue to use and keep in the forefront of their minds when planning events.

The former bowling rooms were opened up last year to give access to them from inside the centre and allow us to be able to accommodate more users during the day and pre-school hours and increase our availability to new users and our earning capacity. This has been a great development and has allowed us to increase our capacity to offer space to other users during the daytime, when our main user the preschool is in session.

We were delighted to see the return of our silent disco this year. These have been popular with our local and wider community in the past and have seen great public participation, and it was another well attended event, raising funds for the community centre.

We continue to be in a strong place and the centre continues to be well used by our local community thanks to the efforts of our volunteers who run the centre and those who keep our profile on social media by regularly posting upcoming activities to ensure we are in a great position to attract new users and continue to serve our community all year round.
