REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 APRIL 2025
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 April 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The object of the charity are to advance the education and skills of children with special needs, in particular but not exclusively by providing and assisting in the provision of amenities and facilities otherwise not available at the Darchei Noam Centre For Special Needs in NW London.
Public benefit
The trustees confirm that the charity’s public benefit is delivered through the provision of financial support to the Darchei Noam Centre for Special Needs. Grants are awarded only after the trustees are satisfied that the funding will advance the Centre’s educational work with children who have special needs, in full accordance with the charity’s objectives and the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Volunteers
As a grant-making charity, DNC C.I.O. does not rely on volunteer involvement, and no volunteers were engaged during the year.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Internal and external factors
There are no specific internal or external factors that have materially affected the charity’s operations during the year.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
During the year, the charity received £150,167 in donations (2024: £550), representing a significant increase in support from the previous year. This income enabled the charity to continue its grantmaking activities, with £132,500 distributed to the Darchei Noam Centre (2024: £22,100) in furtherance of its objectives. These grants supported a range of educational, religious and welfare initiatives consistent with the charity’s stated purposes.
At the balance sheet date, the charity reported an unrestricted funds of £16,463 (2024: £454 deficit), supported by cash at bank of £17,063 (2024: £476). The trustees consider this position to be sound and are confident that future incoming donations will continue to provide a reliable foundation from which the charity can pursue its charitable aims and maintain its level of grantmaking.
Reserves policy
The charity does not aim to hold large reserves, as its policy is to distribute funds to beneficiaries shortly after they are received. Keeping reserves low ensures that donations are used quickly and directly for charitable purposes, while still retaining a small amount to cover short-term timing differences.
With unrestricted funds of £16,463 at the year end, the trustees consider the current level of reserves appropriate for a charity of this nature. They are satisfied that the income received each year is sufficient to allow the charity to continue making grants steadily as funds come in.
FUTURE PLANS
The trustees plan to support charities and charitable purposes in accordance with their grant making policy and to ensure that the ability to generate sufficient income is maintained to achieve that end.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
The charity may by ordinary resolution appoint a person who is willing to act to be a director.
Organisational structure
The company currently has 3 trustees; names of members are listed below. The charity is organised so that the trustees meet regularly to manage the affairs of the charity.
