## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** 

## **YEAR END POSITION** 

As at 31 March 2023 the charity had reserves amounting to £65,237 . The charity had £65,137 deposited at the bank with liabilities amounting to £1,375. 

## **RESERVES POLICY** 

The charity has a policy of trying to maintain reserves at six months annual running costs.The trustees are actively working on the necessary resources to achieve that target.

## **STRUCTURE ,GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** 

The constitution is the governance documents of the charity. 

## **Organisational Structure** 

Bolton Hindu Forum  is governed by its trustees who are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation and the policy of the charity. The trustees carry the ultimate responsibility for the conduct of Bolton Hindu Forum and ensuring that the charity satisfies its legal and contractual obligations. 

## **Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees** 

Trustees are elected at Annual General Meeting. The criteria, eligibility criteria and restrictions for the elections are as per the constitution. Induction packages and away day sessions are held to explain the policies and procedures for newly appointed trustees.

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** 

Promoting and advancing the Hindu religion through various activities like prayers, lectures, festivals and literature distribution for public benefit. 

Educating the public about Hindu history,culture, and traditions through media, educational events, and religious programs. 

Providing recreational facilities and leisure activities for underprivileged groups like youth,elderly,disabled,financially disadvantaged individuals and the general public in the Bolton area to improve their living conditions and social welfare. 

Promoting and preserving good physical and mental health for public benefit by organising physical activity sessions and disseminating relevant information 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of Section 4 of The Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by  The Charities Commission for England and Wales.

**FUNERAL PROJECT :** Providing access to Hindu funeral services and last rites for Hindus as a well -being support project to assist family members who have been recently bereaved.This is an established project run in conjunction with a local company. **UNITY ALLIANCE :** A large interfaith project that brought together various faith and non-faith groups in Bolton to work collaboratively , culminating in the Bolton Unity Festival.The charity's main contribution to this project was promoting community cohesion whilst celebrating the diversity of Bolton through the sharing of practices and beliefs. This was done through the 'Faith Trail' initiatives where members of the public were invited to visit Hindu places of worship to learn more about the function and importance of these buildings and learn more about the faith through guided tours and presentations with opportunities for questions and discussions. Our other contribution towards the Unity Alliances was through weekly table tennis sessions for 6 weeks which promoted health and fitness alongside our involvement and participation in promoting walks in local nature trails with other faith groups. **WOMENS GROUP (MAHILA SHAKTI) :** A dedicated project aimed at promoting female empowerment,which hosted a health awareness event to celebrate International Women's Day.This group also serves as a network tool for other women with an aim to tackle issues of loneliness with this particular demographic. **DIWALI ON THE SQUARE :** A major collaborative event celebrating the festival of Diwali through various cultural,musical, and performing arts acts in Bolton Town Centre. This event allowed children from all backgrounds to be part of the festivities where we invited families to design and make lanterns, which later formed part of a procession during this celebration. **SPORTS MELA :** The largest event organised by the charity,bringing together over 20 groups from across the region to participate in various sports like football,netball ,kho-kho,athletics,badminton,table tennis,chess.carrom and volleyball.Aside from Sports Mela,we host regularly(weekly) sports sessions to promote wellbeing and activity in the community. **DANCE CLASSES :** Regularly hosting classes to teach children bollywood dance and classical Indian dance forms and thereby promoting the Performing Arts within the Hindu community. These provided avenues for participants to grow in confidence using dance as a means of expression whilst also giving attendees the option to explore their own hobbies and interests with the opportunity to develop these further by gaining official accreditations through graded examinations. 



**BHF RADIO :** Operating and running an Indian internet radio station that plays music and has language-based programs in over 15 Indian languages and English. Over the past year we have made an application to register the radio station as a local DAB Radio channel within the Bolton/Bury region of Greater Manchester, aswell as continuing to run the radio station as an internet radio station. **NAVRATRI :** Initiated and delivered a multi-organisation collaborative 9 night dance festival celebrating Indian and Gujarati folk culture,dance and live music. **ROYAL BOLTON HOSPITAL TEMPLE PROJECT :** We were able to assist with the setup and establishment of the new hospital temple room for patients and professionals to use for meditation and mindfulness activities which further strengthened the ongoing Hindu Chaplaincy outreach at the hospital.

**Responsibilities and** As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the **basis of report** accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of  the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
