For the public benefit the relief of sickness and preservation of good health by the provision of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and training in their use where applicable in public areas across the UK.

Public benefit statement

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit

The Tom Henson Charity exists to help provide local publicly accessible defibrillators for communities to use in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

When a person suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, the time in which defibrillation is given is critically important. The chances of a patient surviving a sudden cardiac arrest when not in hospital diminish by approximately 10% a minute. Ambulance response times to such events are expected to be in the region of 8 minutes (at a national level). That is why it is important to have local public access defibrillators.

The Tom Henson Charity Summary of the main achlevements during the period It was a quiet year in tems of installations, though one was a first for us. where it was installed on a domestic residen￿. Normal￿ our installations happen at Ixjsinesses or shops, pubs, etc. bui there weren't any in this area, but a go()J number of houses so many thanks to the owners of the property for enabling this defibrillator to be made available to so many residents. We had a couple of very well supported bake sales and we are extremely grateful to those who donated the cakes and all who dorkqted money. Similarly we had great Suc￿sS with our annual football match and raffle, plus a Christmas raff￿ too, so yet more thanks are due to all wfN) SUPPOrted us by donating prtzes, money or bought tickets. We were privileged to be the beneficiaries of funds donated by The Barratt Development Trust, so many thanks to the anonymous house buyer who put our name forward for that We were also the lucky recipients of a Communty Grant from Bolsover District Council and this money will be put t(Y•vards making another defibrillator available in Bolsover - we have a site in mirKJ which we are currenty attempting to seujre permission for. Financial revlew We are happy with the financial positicfi the tharity is in at the end of this reporting period. The charitys policy on reserves Due to the finite lrfespan of a defibrillator and ivs consumables, the charty aims to steadily build reserves to provide sufficient fvnds in the tharity accounts to enable repla￿ment of these rtems when needed. Thanks We would like to thank all who have contritrmthed to the charity. both financially and in so many other ways (donations of prizes, cakes, volunteering, etc). We are incredibly grateful to have had suth tremendous supporL Signed on beha￿ of the chantls trustees: Signed Nicol8 O'Halloran, Trustee 23 Date
