The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit

The Tom Henson Charity exists to help provide local publicly accessible defibrillators for communities to use in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

When a person suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, the time in which defibrillation is given is critically important. The chances of a patient surviving a sudden cardiac arrest when not in hospital diminish by approximately 10% a minute. Ambulance response times to such events are expected to be in the region of 8 minutes (at a national level). That is why it is important to have local public access defibrillators.

The Tom Henson Charity Summary of the main achievements during the period 2020 has been a difficult and quiet year for the Charity. as it has for the majority of people arKI otganisations. We didn't manage to have any fundraising events and as a result our income was 900 lower than in the previous year. Thankfully we did have some donations and people raised money on their birthdavs etc, which was really appreciated. We are lucky and gratefvl to have such generous support and also fortunate that we have no costs to pay out, as we have no premises and everyone involved is a volunteer - huge thanks to you all for that, we wouIdnl have survived olheThvise. We used funds left over from the previous year to buy more defibrillators. cabinets. elc but due to the lockdown. people wotking from home and social distancing issues vwa had no requests to provide any. At the time of vKiting thrs, things are looking up and we have 3 requests to fulfil in May and June, so we have our fingers crossed that the current financial year will prove lo be more eventful (in a good way of coursel). Financial review Given the dfficult year that is has been and that we have a de￿nt stock of defibrillators. V￿ are happy with the financial position the charity is in at the end of this reporting period and we soon hope to be holding events to raise funds again. The charity's polfcy on reserves Due to the finite lifespan of a defibrillaloT and it's consumables, the chartty aims to steadily build resetves to provide sufficient fvnds in the charity accounts to enabEe repla￿ment of these items when needed. Thanks We Y￿uld like to thank all who have contributed to the charity in the last year. It's been a difficult year for so many people. so we really do appreciate that you still thought of us and donated to us. BIG thanks trj you all.
