For **main achievements** nearly two years, we have prayed as a Church, asking the Lord to lead us to a **of the charity during** building of our own in what we believed to be His will. As the country went into **the year** lockdown in March 2020, a door of opportunity opened to us and after negotiations we managed in June 2020, by God’s help, to secure a derelict Church building at a cut price of £130K. With limited funds, we had a mammoth task ahead. Part of the building survey report read as follows: The Chapel has been unoccupied for a long period of time and is in a dilapidated condition. Major internal and external repairs and complete refurbishment are required if the building is to be brought back into use. Complete new services installations are also required and external areas require complete clearance and re-surfacing. External elements including chimney stacks, walls, doors, and windows all require significant repairs or replacements. Internally, walls, floors, and ceilings also require major repairs or replacements. The Chapel has been largely stripped of all internal fixtures… We met as Trustees and after prayer, decided that a key part of moving forward would be the securing of a loan of £100K to help towards the internal refurbishment costs. After much goings back and forth, we managed miraculously, by God’s grace, to secure a loan for the desired amount from Charity Bank. The external repairs went ahead smoothly and were completed to a high standard by RDP Commercial. The work was overseen by Calvin Williams. Over 1200 panes of glass were individually replaced by J. Edwards Glass. Part of the outhouse was rebuilt and roofed. Spoiled bricks were replaced and repair work to the roof was undertaken, including the partial rebuilding of one of the chimneys. This is just to list some of the repairs that were undertaken. During this time, generous donations came in from a variety of different sources totalling many tens of thousands of pounds. This allowed the work of restoration to continue. Many thousands of pounds were saved by Church volunteers clearing the internal and external site of much rubbish. After prayer and discussion, the decision was made by the Trustees, to appoint Martin Evans Construction Ltd. to complete the internal repairs and restoration of the Church building. There were other companies that bid for the tender, but Martin Evans was by far the most professional. In November 2020, the internal work began. Plans for renovating and remodifying the internal space were drawn up by Throne Architecture Ltd who were a God send. Paul and Nathiena Williams led the design and project management, while Calvin Williams oversaw the work being done. The floor of the building was replaced along with many of the joists. A balcony was installed with two flights of stairs to the front and back of the building. The entire surface area of the wall and ceiling space was reboarded and replastered. Partition walls were erected at the front of the entrance to allow for a foyer with three toilets. At the rear of the building, upstairs partitions were erected to allow for a classroom, toilet, and office, while ground floor partitions beneath this allowed for a kitchen and a nursery. The whole building needed wiring electrically and a central heating/water system installed as well as a fire alarm. This work was carried out to an outstanding standard by D.C. Electrical Ltd, C.T Plumbing and Heating, and C. I Technical Services respectively. Throughout 2020/21, the restoration work continued and as of the end of March 2021, the bulk of the main internal work has been completed. All that is left is mainly snagging and cosmetics (decorating, flooring, etc.). The outside grounds will need landscaping and paving. **TAR** March **2012** 3 Section D Achievements and erformance p Over the course of 2020/21, hundreds of thousands of pounds have come into the account of Bethesda Shalom from the kind donations of God’s people, including the loan which was instrumental in the project getting started. All of this, we believe has come about as a result of prayer in the will of God. We thank God for His direction and provision and for the labourers He has graciously provided. What a faithful God we serve! The estimated cost of the total renovation, excluding the purchase, is just under £300K. During the lockdown, we were able to continue to meet as A Church via Zoom and during the second and third lockdown, we were able to meet in person. God has truly blessed us and the work of Bethesda Shalom has gone unhindered. We would like to thank the Royal School Wolverhampton for all their kindness to us in allowing us where they could to continue meeting together in the chapel at the school until we move in June 2021 into the new building. **TAR** March **2012** 4 ## **Section E Financial review** At the close of the financial year 2020/21, there are cash reserves of **Brief statement of the** more than £30,000.
