Governance and management

The charity trustees shall manage the affairs of the CIO and may for that purpose exercise all the powers of the CIO. It is the duty of each charity trustee:

To exercise his or her powers and to perform his or her functions in his or her capacity as a trustee of the CIO in the way he or she decides in good faith would be most likely to further the purposes of the CIO. To exercise, in the performance of those functions, such care and skill as is reasonable in the circumstances having regard in particular to; any special knowledge or experience that he or she has or holds himself or herself out as having and if he or she acts as a charity trustee of the CIO in the course of a business or profession, to any special knowledge or experience that it is reasonable to expect of a person acting in the course of that kind of business or profession.

Any decision may be taken either; at a meeting of the charity trustees or by resolution in writing or electronic form agreed by all of the charity trustees, which may comprise either of a single document or several documents containing the text of the resolution in like form to each of which one or more charity trustees has signified their agreement.

Aims and objectives

To act as a resource for young people up to the age of 25 living in Bradford by providing advice, assistance, organising and running educational programmes in mechanics, engineering and technology and other activities as a means of:

(a) advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals; (b) advancing education

(c) relieving unemployment

To continue to meet our aims and objectives.

Trustees responsibilities

The directors/ trustees are responsible for preparing the report and accounts in accordance with applicable law and regulations.

Company law requires the directors/trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year. Under that law the directors/trustees have elected to prepare the accounts in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under company law the directors/trustees must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and of the profit or loss of the company for that period. In preparing these accounts, the directors/trustees are required to:

The directors/trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The directors/trustees are also responsible for the contents of the directors/trustees report.

This report has been prepared in accordance with the provisions in Part 15 of the Companies Act 2006 applicable to companies subject to the small companies’ regime.
