The trustees have pleasure In presentlng their report and the unaudited flnandal statements of the charlty ft)r the twelve months ended 31 July 2021. THE TRusfEES The trustees are Hazel Leah, Hazel Broadley, Laura Cheesman-Haynes, Louise Hatcher, Emma Fllrt and Alexls Wilson, who were all appolnted on 8th Aprll 2019. The pre-school Is administered by an eletted Committ￿ of parents. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Woodpeckers pre-school Is a playgroup for children from the age of two to five years. The playgroup opened In May 1998 and is registered with OFSTED for a maxlmum of 24 children a session. The playgroup is governed by a constitutlon dated 26 September 2018. The commlttee undertake5 the day-to-day admlnistration and management of the charlty. New trustees are provided wlth a copy of the latest accounts, a copy of the constitutlon and a copy of the Pre-school Learning AllIan￿'S Trustees. Welcome Guide. OBJECTIVES The aims of the charity are to enhance the development and educatlon of children aged two to five years by offering approprlate play, educatlon and car facilities, encouraging the study of the needs of such chlldren and their families and promotlng public interest in, and recognltlon of, such needs In the local area. ORGANISATION The charity Is headed up by the Board of Trustee5 and a voluntary management commlttee who undertake the day-to-day management. The Trustees have overall responsibllSty for ensurfng that the charity has approprlate systems of controls, flnancial or othe￿Ise. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taklng reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities and to provlde reasonable assurance that: the charity is operating efficiently and effectlvely Its assets are safeguarded against unauthorised dlsposal or use proper records are malntained and flnancial informatlon wlthln the charity or for publication Is rellable; and the charlty complles with relevant laws and regulatlons. The systems of Internal controls are deslgned to provlde reasonable, but not absolute, assurance agalnst material mlsstatement or loss. REVIEWS OF DEVELOPMENTS, ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS The pre-school Is based In a purposely-converted slngle storey buildlng. The building consi5t5 of two large rooms, an office, a kitchen, toilets and baby changlng facllltles and cloakrooms. Outside there Is a covered area, a secure garden wlth grass, a sandplt and a stone plt. There is also a hard surface play area. The pre-school is open from 8:30am to 4pm Monday to Friday offerlng both morning and afternoon sesslons with a lunch tlub 12-Ipm.

One other member of staff completed a foundatlon degree in Early Year5 Studles. All staff continue thelr professional development wlth relevant training courses. FUNDRAISING Woodpeckers held various fundralsing events throughout the past year. With changes to employment legislatlon regardlng holiday payp pensions etc., we anticlpate fiJrther increases in our wage bills going forward and fundralslng wlll become even more vital to our future. PROPERTY Regular maintenance has been carrled out. OFsfED We were last Inspected by OFSTED In July 2019 and were judged 'Good'. The trustees have pald due regard to the Charlty Commlsslon guidan￿ on public beneflt In deciding what actlvltles the charity Should undertake. FINANCE Full details of the results are shown in the financial statements. The Trustees are satlsfied with the flnanclal status of the charity and confirm that the charlty can meet Its liabilities as they fall due. The land and building from which the pre-school operates are leased from Kent County Councll. These are for a perlod of ten years from l April 2019. The annual rent for the bulldlng Is £5,500 for the first year, £6,000 for the second year, and £6,500 thereafter. RESERVES/RESOURCES POLICY It Is the policy of the charity to maintaln unrestritted funds, which are free reserve5 of the charity. These sums have been carefully built up over the twenty years since the pre-school began and provides sufficient funds over and above day-to-day management and adminlstratlon costs to respond to any rnajor expendlture required due to unforeseen clrcumstances on the bulldlng or In the case of staff redundancies. There is a real posslblllty of relocatlon becoming necessary at the end of the current lease perlod. If reseNes are slgnlflcantly above the taryet level, the Committee will eamiark them as deslgnated funds. Deslgnated funds are part of the unrestritted funds whlch trustees have earmarked for a partlcular projett or use, without restrictlng or committing the funds legally. The designation may be cancelled by the trustees if they later decide that the charity should not proceed or contlnue with the use or project for which the funds were designated. The Commlttee have approved that the designated funds for Woodpeckers preschool CIO should be for the future purchase of a property that the preschool operate out of. This would offer the preschool much greater flnanclal stability in the future.

Independent Examlner's Report to the Trustees of Woodpeckers Preschool CIO I report to the charlty trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 July 2021, which are set out on pages five to seven. Responslbllities and basls of report As the charity's trustee5 you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requlrements of the Charities Act 2011) (the Att). I report in respect of my examlnation of the charlty's accounts carrled out under under section 145 of the Att and In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Dlrectlons glven by the Charlty Commission under Section 145{5)(b) of the Act.
