Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.

Despite challenges that are faced by many small charities we have continued to grow and continue to offer more support than ever to our beneficiaries and their families.

We continue to offer support to anyone with any cancer diagnosis and this has enabled us to help and support all genders and race. We continue to be recognised by the local Cancer Unit at our local hospital as well as local doctors surgeries and Primary Care Networks across the city as a much needed support network for cancer sufferers both through and after treatment and are recommended by them to anyone with a diagnosis and are continuing to promote our services by attending the hospital regularly to raise awareness.

Our ability to offer first hand knowledge, advice and friendship to those with a cancer diagnosis and their friends and family has been of great benefit to our beneficiaries and their families/friends within the community.

Our drop in centre is still being utilised as our office and for beneficiaries to visit for support. The difference that the charity has made to our beneficiaries is that they continue to have both a private platform and are able to discuss their treatment and fears and this also helps with their general mental health and wellbeing. Wider benefits are also seen by the support that we can offer to those affected by cancer of their loved ones and relatives.

The Charity has been holding regular face to face meetings with group members to provide advice, friendship and support through and after a diagnosis. And now offers six different support groups across the Staffordshire with plans for expansion to other areas. Alongside our online support and support groups we also provide telephone support, home visits.

We hold awareness events and offer awareness presentations within companies to promote self awareness, self examination and the early detection of cancer. The number of companies that we now offer this service to has increased dramatically during 2022 and 2023 and has enabled us to provide vital information on early detection of the signs of cancer. These events have, on a number of occasions, prompted their employees to seek medical advice following a self check and in some cases has meant they have found a cancer diagnosis in the early stages which has resulted in successful treatment being put in place.

We continue to assist members with taking them to and from hospital and GP appointments, visits whilst in hospital and providing transport to and from meetings for members who do not have transport.

We also continue to provide a care pack for those undergoing treatment which is provided free of charge.

During 2022 and into 2023 we were able to offer low cost retreats for our beneficiaries in our caravan purchased early in 2022. This has been a welcome addition to our

services and provides a safe haven for our beneficiaries to get away with their families during and after treatment.

We continue to hold face to face meetings and strive to support both male and females with any cancer ensuring that they do not feel alone and have like minded people to talk to and discuss their fears and anxieties.

We realise that 2023/24 will be another challenging year with cancer now affecting 1 in 2 people and we are determined to help and support as many cancer sufferers as possible by offering support, advice and friendships.
