Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

Period start date 01/01/2023. Period end date 31/12/2023

Charity name: National Liturgical Dance Network UK

Charity registration number: 1182829

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance the Christian religion, for the
benefit of the public through the ministry of
various art forms, the holding of events,
prayer meetings, lectures, public
celebration of religious festivals to
enlighten others of the Christian faith.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
The main and most time-consuming activity
for the year has been hosting our first
international conference since the
pandemic. This was significant as during
the preparation we were in the midst of the
steep rise in the cost of living. Significant
fundraising activities were initiated to
provide opportunities for the public to
attend, particularly young people and the
unemployed. As a result of the conference
our website was updated with various
training materials available for the public
benefit.
The conference was well received by all
who had participated receiving outstanding
feedback.
Annual calendar free liturgical events have
continued in person all over the country
where all network regions worked together
in celebrating Easter, Pentecost and the
Advent season, all resulting in enlightening
others of the Christian faith using the
creative arts. Significant attempts have
been made to work with various groups in
the community in presenting these
programmes.
In person rehearsals has now fully
resumed with the additional Zoom sessions
which provides the opportunity for those in

1

more remote areas to participate and have
the opportunity to take part in all the events
held around the county.
NLDNUK training continues to be
successful, and some of these
programmes are led by those who had
graduated earlier. New members to this
organisation are encouraged to participate
which we feel equips members to work with
the public. P.U.S.H 1 (Praise Until
Something Happens) resumed this year
and those who completed all 3 PUSH
programmes graduated at the International
Worship and the arts conference this year.
We continue to invest in the young people
around the country providing opportunities
for them to meet in person and via Zoom to
rehearse and socialise. This resulting in
being invited to minister in dance at a
special racial equality event at a well-
known City Cathedral.
All regions have continued to be more
involved in local activities in person
supporting these events presenting the
message of hope through dance and other
creative arts. We are encouraged that the
public are now more comfortable attending
these public events after the pandemic.
The working party continues to be
instrumental as it consists of members from
various groups within the network. They
assist in reviewing policies, planning
significant events and any projects that are
considered appropriate for public benefit.
A Core leaders’ team continues to assist in
managing this expanding charity, working
closely with the working party
.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 Trustees have continued to appreciate and
utilise guidance issued by the Charity

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 NLDNUK has been consistent throughout
the year in connecting and supporting
members across the country and
internationally to strengthen believers and
enlighten others of the Christian faith
meeting in person using technology where
available.
Each region has become more proactive
and all meetings, rehearsals, conferences,
prayer meetings, art and craft have taken
place in person, but we are still arranging
some events online for those unable to
meet in person. This option continues to be
a source of strength not only to members
but to the public at large as we utilise
technology available to meet whilst at their
home.
An increasing number of members have
been directly involved in working with the
homeless which has included sharing the
Christian faith via using creative arts such
as flags ministry as well as providing
meals.

3

Members have also been invited to share the Christian faith in Care homes for the elderly at the same time teaching and sharing the many worship tools which can be used. Members currently on the PUSH 2 programme has started a dance ministry for young children in her local community and at the same time devising a protocol to assist other members from various regions to do the same. We continue to see an increase in membership from the local community as a result of in person and online events.
