Alfurqan Academy is dedicated to maintaining strong governance practices, ensuring compliance with current legislation and implementing effective procedures to enhance the organization's efficiency. We acknowledge the importance of the new Code of Governance for the Voluntary and Community Sector, which emphasizes the need for trustees to possess a diverse range of skills, experience, and knowledge and receive appropriate induction, training, and ongoing support. 

- As a supplementary school, we annually review and implement up-to-date policies and procedures, fostering understanding through verbal discussions and team meetings. Additionally, Alfurqan Academy has established protocols for recruiting new trustees and providing them with necessary induction and training. 

- Our organizational structure includes a board of trustees, with one trustee serving as the head of management for operations, creating a strong connection between trustees and management. To minimize risks, we have implemented a simple yet effective risk-management strategy: 

1. We assign risk-management advisory roles to individuals within each department, benefiting from their expertise in identifying potential risks associated with systems and processes. 

2. Risks are systematically identified, assessed for likelihood and impact through collaborative efforts between management and trustees, and control measures are established. 

3. We maintain insurance coverage to safeguard against unforeseen events: 

- Public liability insurance covers injuries and illnesses suffered by members of the public. 

- Employers' liability insurance protects against injuries and illnesses affecting employees and volunteers.

In alignment with the primary objective of advancing education, Alfurqan Academy undertook a range of activities to serve the community needs of the body, mind, and soul. These activities encompassed various areas, including Islamic education, formal education support, community education, physical education, training, research, and the development of individual capabilities. Additionally, the academy expanded its initiatives to include specific youth programs, acknowledging the importance of catering to the unique needs of the younger demographic. 

**1. Islamic Education:** The academy remained steadfast in upholding Islamic values, with a focus on student-led learning. This year, the emphasis was on inculcating virtues such as selflessness and integrity. Activities included Qur'an studies, hadith exploration, and lessons on the life of the Prophet, contributing to the spiritual and moral development of the students. 

**2. Formal Education Support:** To address challenges in mainstream education, the academy provided supplementary tutoring for key subjects at GCSE and A-Level. This initiative aimed to bridge educational gaps and instill a love for learning among students facing difficulties with the standard curriculum. 

**3. Community Education:** The academy extended its impact beyond students through workshops for parents and community members. Topics covered effective parenting, family mental health, social welfare, and environmental stewardship, fostering a holistic approach to community education.

At Alfurqan Academy we take pride in being a student-led supplementary school that prioritises creating an environment where students feel genuinely valued. We believe that instilling this sense of value not only boosts motivation for learning but also cultivates a profound sense of accomplishment. Throughout the academic year, we consistently recognize and award students at our monthly assemblies, celebrating their hard work and dedication to the madrasah. 

We have had our 7[th ] Annual End of Year Graduation Ceremony where over 500 Families attended to celebrate and congratulate the students for their academic goals. We of a diverse array of awards to students across various age groups, acknowledging outstanding achievements in categories such as Best Attendance, Hard Work Ethic, and Overall Academic Success. This ceremony served as a testament to our dedication to fostering a supportive and rewarding educational environments for all students. 

We engage our learners in a wide range of programmes and activities. We engage in football tournaments to encourage physical activities and allow pupils to connect with other pupils from different madrassahs to further enhance their communication skills. We also engaged in Quran competitions to encourage students to work hard, build their resilience, learn to work together, and aspire to exceed expectations and go above and beyond the standard requirements.

## **Effective Partnership Working** 

Alfurqan Academy has established robust partnerships with various educational institutions, including universities, mainstream schools, and extracurricular education centres. Many of our students also attend local schools, where we foster collaborative relationships. Notably, we collaborate effectively with Manchester Academy to support our students both within and outside the school environment. For instance, Manchester Academy graciously hosts Friday prayers, inviting our teachers to lead congregations and deliver talks. Beyond school hours, we have utilized Manchester Academy's facilities for hosting events such as family fun days, sports events, and fundraising activities, contributing to a vibrant community. 

In the realm of education, AlFurqan Academy extends its support to high school students by providing tutoring and organizing career events, offering them valuable insights into future opportunities. Our strong partnerships with establishments like Makki Masjid, Greater Manchester Police, MMU, and Manchester City Council enable us to host biannual Eid celebrations, fostering community unity and inspiring our students to engage actively beyond their educational pursuits. Additionally, our collaboration with Al-Rayan publishers has resulted in a tailored curriculum designed to make Islamic Education more engaging and interactive, benefiting our youth. 

## **Local Authority Engagement** 

Alfurqan Academy operates as an independent organization within the Alfurqan Centre consortium, dedicated to addressing the educational, cultural, and religious needs of children and families within the community. We actively engage with Manchester City Council (MCC) and other partners, such as GMP, to create a harmonious and prosperous community where people of all ages take pride in living, working, and playing. 

Our engagement with MCC covers various aspects, including safeguarding, family support, policy advocacy, youth engagement, and crime reduction. We collaborate closely with local schools to ensure that our children have equal access to opportunities, aligning with the broader goals of Greater Manchester and the entire country. Our commitment is to facilitate a level playing field that empowers everyone to achieve their aspirations while preserving our rich cultural heritage.
