||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|**This charity is a growing Scout Group.**
**Year on year, youth numbers have**
**increased, although COVID saw a**
**dramatic decline in numbers, which is**
**now slowly increasing. Uniform can be**
**provided at low cost, as the charity**
**always has good, used items in stock**
**and it can be given for free if there is a**
**genuine need. All members are able to**
**attend outings and camps, costs are**
**kept low to enable this. Children benefit**
**from outdoor freedom, in a controlled**
**environment. They learn from older**
**children, as well as leaders and gain**
**confidence in things they may not**
**ordinarily encounter e.g. cooking over**
**fires, being responsible for the care of**
**equipment, taking charge of a game or**
**activity. They learn about local history**
**in the area in which they live and**
**contribute to the upkeep by litter picks,**
**bulb or tree planting on an annual basis.**
**This benefits the local community, in**
**addition to the members of the Scout**
**Group. The aim is to encourage good**
**citizenship from an early age.**|

|A description of the principal
risks facing the charity|Para 1.46|**There were two risks which the charity**
**could face – a loss of leaders and/or a**
**loss of children. However, this year**
**there has been the massive effects of a**
**pandemic, which has decimated**
**numbers of children in the Group. This**
**would impact on being able to offer a**
**programme to remaining members.**
**Prior to COVID 19, numbers had risen**
**year on year and were expected to**
**continue in this way for a further 3**
**years, when a maximum would have**
**been reached. COVID has also meant a**
**loss of engagement from parents and**
**online meetings for children, with many**
**not accessing at all.**|
