Structure, Governance and Management
MAY is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation- Foundation Model governed by a Constitution dated 18 March 2019
and registered with the Charities Commission on 3 April 2019. The affair5 of the charity are managed by the charity
trustees elected at the Annual General Meetin8 in accordance with the Constitution
Objectives and Activltles
The objectives of the charity are..
To help and educate the young people of the Prestwood & Great Missenden area so as to develop their
physical, mental and social capacities, that they may grow as individuals and responsible members of
societV* and that their life opportunities may be enhanced.
The charity aims to achieve the above objectives by promoting and supporbn8 yovth activities.

Achlevements and Performance
l. For the first 6 months of the financial year IApril- October 231, the weekly after-school Youth Cafe sessions
continued to run at the Misbourne school. This work was funded by a grant from The Rothschild Foundation
which covered the cost of a service level agreement covering services of a professional youth worker for the
2023124 financial year. This work was again supported by MAY Trustees as well as MAY volunteers.
Unfortunately, in October 2023, the Misbourne School elected to withdraw the use of its facilities durin8 the
after-school period, explaining that it needed to reconsider the arrangement. Although attempts were
made to work with the school to identify a suitable alternative time slot, by the end of this reporting period,
no progress had been made.
2. Work continued on the Youth Needs Survey, with interim findings bein8 fed back to the Buckinghamshire
Council - Mi5senden's Community Board IMCBI who had funded the research. A Focus Group update
meetin8 attended by irbterest parties, contributor5 and repreSenta￿veS of local lyouth focussedl community
groups took place in May 2023. The interim results were shared with attendees.
The Youth Survey report was finalised in November 2023 and results made available to The MCB and via the
Misbourne Area Youth website.
In light of the interim survey findings and Focus Group feedback, but ahead of the finalisation of the Youth
Survey report, MAY was invited by the MCB to put together 8rant applications for funding for two mlni-
projetts- one for a pilot scheme aimed at making use of the Great Missenden Library for a "drop-in" youth
cafe whilst the second was to formulate a "Freshers" style evenvbooklet at which young people of the area
could receive information detailing local clubs/activities.
Whi15t MAY was open to these suggestions, and continued to Ilaise with representatives of the MCB, it was
reluctant to seek funding for "one-off, style events that involve capital expenditure but do not have the on-
going local authority & communlty backing to develop them into ventures that the youn8 people of the area
can rely on. Discussions with the MCB representadves continued along with work with local businesses and
organisations regarding the develop a "Youth Hub" in Great Misssenden, which can be accessed by the
young people of "The Missendens" area.
4. Regular MAY Management Committee meetings continue to take place to throughout the year, dealing with
financial and administrative issue5 relating to the charity. These were attended by Trustees as well as
Management Committee members, representatives from the Parish Council and local authority staff, as
appropriate.
Reserves Pollcy
Although MAY doesn't have any property to maintain, so eliminating the need to hold funds in reserve to meet any
unexpected related costs, MAY'S continuing aim in these uncertain times is to ensure that there are sufficient funds
in reserve to maintain a youth provision in the area for a year in advance, to provide continuity.
