Structure, Governance and Management
Parkfield Equine Solutions {PESI was registered as a charity on 2 April 2019. The charity is
constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and the governin8 document is its
Constitution.
In appointing the first Trustees the objective was to recruit a group of people with skills.
knowledge and experience for the effective administration of the Charity both to oversee
the 8overnance and management of the Charity but also to ensure the welfare of the horses
and ponies used in the charittys work.
Before appointment each Trustee read and signed PES Safeguarding Policy and in line with
that policy has undertaken safeguarding trainin8 as part of their induction. Trustees are
required to undertake a DBS check, and this check and safeguarding training must be
renewed re8ularly.
Objectives and Activities
The objertive of PES is to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing
people from becoming socially excluded. relieving the needs of those people who are
socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society by enhancing life skills of such
people through interaction with horses and by advancing the education of such people and
those supporting such people.
The main activity is Restart, our flagship. evidence based equine assisted behaviour change
programme is offered to participants by referral from professionals in mental health. social
work or education. The course is delivered I:1 by a trained facilitator for 2 hours a day over
S consecutive days. Restart participants and their key workers receive detailed feedback at
the end of the course. hand back and follow-up.
The Trustees declare that they have complied with their duty to have regards to the
8uidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers
and duties.

Achievements and Performance
We continue to offer Ihe llagship Resran course. this year we delivered over 30 Restart
programmes. We contknue to offer ongoin8 SUPPOrt to participants by delivering Top Up sessions
following Restart.. we have rea]ired how powerful a short top up can be and have become more
responslve ro participants individual needs in the numberldurauon of top ups they receive. To
accommodate those with Icss iniensive need and offer a more flexible appr03ch to alrending we
have staned to offer weekly sessions with weekday or weekend awdilabiliry.
We continue io forn) parLnerships with other organisation& in the year we have worked with
new partners Gateway Women's Centre and Change Grow Live and continued to work with the
Sid Youth organizauon.
Our work has developed since we iauncbed it to work with groups of participants. One of our
P2mieTships in this setting has been with the Psychology deparuneDt in Brighton - supporting
their Trauma Stabilisation Courses. P05t-COVID we developed and delivered well-being
workshops to NHS staff, and these have continued over the lasi year supFx)rtin8 NHS staff
suffering stress arkd aThxiery.

Financial Review
In the twelve months to 31 March 2024 we raised £71.887, an increase of over £21.IX)O and
44% on the previous year. Makin8 2023-2024 our most successful year to date.
The majority of our fundin8 comes from grants. This yearwe raised £58.775 from 7 funders.
This equates to 82% of our income. The table below shows our funders for 2022-2023.

Pets at Home Foundation. D'oyly Carte Charitable Trust and The KFC Foundation were new
funders in 2023-24. We are extremely grateful forthe support of all our funders.
Course fees that were paid for by referrers accounted for 14% of income and donations
accounted for 4%.
At the end of the financial year we held reserves of £5.869. This is slightly below our target
of holding equivalent to 6 Restart courses in reserve.
Payment to Trustee. Trustees agreed to payments totalling £2.006 {£4.283 in 2022-23) to
Sara Devries for her services as a freelance facilitator during 2023-2024. Sara is a qualified
facilitator accredited by TheHorseCourse. The Trustees considered her qualification and
skills to be such that there are very few other facilitators that could offer their services.
