Structure, Governance and Management
Parkfield Equine Solution5 IPESI was registered a5 a charity on 2 April 2019. The charity is
constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and the governing document is its
Constitution.
In appointing the first Trustees the objective was to recruit a eroup of people wtth skills,
knowledge and experience for the effective administration of the Charity both to oversee
the governance and management ofthe Charty but also to ensure the welfare of the horses
and ponies used in the charitvs work.
Before appointment each Trustee read and slgned PES Safeguarding Policy and in Ilne with
that policy has undertaken safeguarding training as part of their induction. Trustees a
required to undertake a DBS checl and this check and safe8uardin8 training must be
renewed regularly.
Objectives and Activities
The objective of PES is to promote social incluslon for the public benefit by preventing
people from becoming socially excluded. relieving the needs of those people who are
socially excluded and a5S15ting them to integrate into society by enhancing life skills of such
people through interaction with horses and by advancing the education of such people and
those supporting Such people.
The main activity is Restart. our flagship, ev￿￿enCe based equine as51Sted behaviour change
programme is offered to participants by referral from professionals in mental health, social
work or education. The course is delivered I'.1 by a trained facilltstor for 2 hours a day over
5 consecutive days. Restart participants and their key workers receive detailed feedback at
the end of the course, hand back and follow-up.
In addition. we offer Top Ups for Restart participants. These are shorter sessions that allow
the participants to keep in touch with the facilitator and contlnue to practice the skills they
developed in the Restart prograrnrne.
We aim to offer our participants ongoing support once they have successfully completed
Restart and accessed the top-up sessions. To offer this support to our youth participants we
have developed a youth volunteer programme.. this gives young people an opportunity to
come back to the stables, Interart wlth the horse5 and ponies and to support each other In
re-enga8ing with school, trainin& their families and wider communlties.
The Trustees declare that they have complied wtth their duty to have regards to the
guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers
and duties.

Achievements and Performance
The financial year 2020-21. as for all organisations. saw us deal wtth the effects of the
Coronavirus pandemic. In accordance with government guidelines. we closed our doors
from March 2020 until the summer. In preparation for reopenin& we took full regard for
making our artivities and facilities Covid secure: this meant sanit15ing equipment and
facilities and redesigning our programme to ensure the facilitstor, participant ar)d the
participanvs support worker or family member accompanying them to the training
observed social distancing. The nature of our work. with the delivery of the programme
being I".1 and most of the time spent working on Restart being outdoors made this
relatively straightforward and we were able to continue with delivering our service.
By the time we re-opened in the Sumrner and right through to the end of the financial year
in March 2021 it became clear that the demand for our service has increased. Lockdown
and school closures had a detrimental effect on the mental health of many people and had
been extremely stressful for families.
This increased demand saw us broaden the range of people we were able to help and the
number of adult participants increased. We also recognised and responded to the need to
offer ongoing support to participants. this we did by increasing the number of Top Up
sessions we offered. The Increase in demand has been maintained Into the current financial
vear.
Increased demand meant we were able to take on an additional facilitator to allow us to
deliver more courses and ongoing support. We also expanded our volunteer programme to
appoint a Volunteer Co￿rdinatOr to support the Youth Volunteer Programme.
In 2020-21 we delivered 14 Restart courses in the 8 months we were open compared to 18
in the previous financial year.
Financial Review
In the twelve months to 31 March 2021 we ralsed £38.85012019120 £36,220). This was
against a background of many funders closing applications for general funding due to Covid
at the start of the year. Later in the year as the increased demand for our Se￿iCe5 became
apparent we were successful in applying for and receiving Covid-related funds. Expenditure
was £25,34112019120 £17.2291. Over 85 per cent of expenditure is directly spent on course
delivery.
At the end of the financial year we held reserves of £32.500.1£2.705 unrestricted and
£29,795 re5trictedl. Thi5 wa5 above our target of holding equivalent to 6 Restart courses in
reserve. However increased demand for our services going into 2021122 financial year
meant our spend ha5 increased significantly in the first half of that financial year.

Payment to Trustee. Trustees agreed to payments totalling £2,100 to Sara DeVrie5 for her
services as a freelance facilitator during 2020121. Sara is a qualified facilitator accredited by
TheHorseCourse. The Trustees considered her qualrfication and skills to be such that no one
else in the geographical area would be able to supply the services.
The payments were made in line with section 6 of the constitution and sertion 185 of the
Charities Act 2011. No other trustees were remunerated.
