Summary .
A year of continuous growth offering more assistance for vulnerable/disadvantaged young people, and building further relationships in the Community.
Proactive showcasing rugby to Schools, by going into Summer Fairs and working with the Local Authority at Sporting events within the County.
Setting up new Rugby programmes in a number of Schools & Colleges - Primary Schools, Secondary Schools & Sixth Form Colleges.
Helping to raise funds for Schools to improve Health & Fitness Equipment for their students. Working in Special Needs Schools offering fun rugby events to Students
Remaining at Stage 4 level for Alternative Provision
- 3 new staff, which enables more activity and growth.
Annual report
The foundation was established as a charity on 1 April 2019 with the following objectives: The advancement of education through sport of children and young people in Cambridge and the surrounding area, with the aim of:

(1) Developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible citizens; and
-
(2) encouraging interest in sport and promoting activities leading to good health to help and educate children between the ages of 4 and 18 years old in physical activity and exercise so as to develop their physical and mental capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and their conditions of life may improve.
A mission was created to summarize these objectives: !To create and deliver accessible opportunities that inspire personal and social development through sport.”
2022/23 has been a busy year within the Foundation, with 3 new staff members being employed to ramp up activity.
All staff were encourages to upskill by actioning 1st Aid Courses and County Council Prevent & Safeguarding Courses.
With this increase, the Foundation now offers more variety of Provision to more students who may not be suited to full time education.
Additionally, we opened our doors to another Alternative Provider, who offered more cognitive behaviour therapy and tuition to young people.
The Foundation also now offers various forms of rugby coaching in Schools, and worked with approximately 15 Primary & Secondary Schools in the region.
Additionally, the Foundation assisted in promoting and coaching Girls Rugby in various Secondary Schools.
All of the work actioned above culminates in positive relationships with various parties, and really signals te Foundations attempt to continue to grow.

2024/25 plans are to take on more staff, continue to build our Provision, by offering tuition and qualification opportunities to the students, alongside building our After School Tag Rugby program in Primary Schools, and offering exceptional coaching to Secondary Schools.
The Foundation will also offer assistance with in-curriculum rugby activities, and will continue to work with Special Needs Schools.
Further projects will be looked at, such as overseeing Walking Rugby for the more mature person (50+), and managing Social Family Touch Program in the Summer months.
The aim for Cambridge Sports Development Foundation is to encourage the community to be healthy, have fun and offer rugby for all.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Cambridge Sports Development Foundation
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Cambridge Sports Development Foundation (the Trust) for the year ended 30 April 2023.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
The accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
