|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|**Charitable Objects:**
**“THE PROMOTION OF COMMUNITY**
**PARTICIPATION IN HEALTHY**
**RECREATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT**
**BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR**
**YOUNG PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY**
**YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY**
**OR ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED,**
**TO TAKE PART IN ROWING.”**
**Charitable Purpose:**
**The RowUK Foundation runs**
**programmes and events of recreational**
**physical activity for young people,**
**specifically related to the sport of rowing.**
**The purpose of these activities is to**
**promote physical, mental and emotional**
**wellbeing, with an additional focus on**
**encouraging progression to further and**
**higher education, particularly for those**
**young people from disadvantaged**
**backgrounds.**|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|**This is our second year of operation and**
**activity has been at a minimum this year.**
**At the beginning of the year, the Covid-19**
**pandemic struck and all recreational**
**activity came to a halt for the best part of**
**the following year. During this time, the**
**charity was largely dormant. We received**
**a limited amount of charitable income**
**which was pledged in the previous**
**accounting year but received in this**
**accounting year. We had a small amount**
**of administrative costs but delivered no**
**charitable work. This was, in effect, a**
**year of hibernation whilst we waited for**
**activity to resume after the Covid-19**|

|**Financial Review**|||
|---|---|---|
|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|**The financial position of the charity is**
**modest but strong. We received a small**
**amount of income and had only modest**
**administrative costs to meet. We have**
**conducted no charitable activity this year**
**owing to the pandemic but have kept a**
**small amount of reserves in hand, which**
**we intend to direct to worthy causes**
**when recreational activity resumes foe**
**young people after Spring 2021. We have**
**deliberately had a small amount of**
**income and managed an even smaller**
**amount of expenditure, keeping a steady**
**amount in reserve.**|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|**We will aim to keep a small reserve at the**
**end of each annual reporting period and,**
**as the volume of activity in our**
**programmes grows, we expect to keep a**
**slightly larger reserve year on year. We**
**will keep the reserve policy under review,**
**taking into account any additional fixed**
**costs and liabilities as the charity grows.**|
