Thetrusteespresenttheirreportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyearended31March2024. The
trusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisionsof AccountingandReportingbyCharities:Statementof Recommended Practice
applicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the
UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

TheobjectiveoftheCIO'Curly'sLegacy'isforthepublicbenefit,torelievetheneedsofpeoplewithdisabilities and
other special needs, their families and carers in particular, but not exclusively by the provision of:
a) Educational visits to a small farm holding and working farm tailored to their needs
b) Respite Holidays
c)Providingrecreationalfacilitiesandopportunitiesthatwillenhancetheirpersonallifeskillsandimprove social,
emotional health and wellbeing.
d) Offering work experience placements.
e) Offering young people to gaining accredited learning through the farms training and development programmes.
f) Apprenticeship work placements

Significant activities

Curly's Farm continuesto welcome small groups of children,young people and adults on to the farm, each day to  learn
howtocarefor,supportandsafelyworkalongsideanimalsandlivestock.Witheachpersonbeingableto work
towards recognised certificationin the work they carry out on the farm. With young people having bespoke tailormade
packages and experiences taking into consideration of their individual likes, medical needs and interests.
Curly'sCaravan-a3bedroomstaticcaravanbasedinHartsHolidayPark,Leysdown,haswelcomed families
throughoutthe year(exceptthroughlockdowns)andgivenFREEminibreaksrangingfrom 2-5 nightsdepending upon
the familiescircumstances.Duringthe year30 familiesbenefitedfrom this,inculdinga localhome for adultswith high
needs.

Manyschools,numerouschildren,youngpeopleandadultshaveattendedCurly'sFarmforeducational learning,
training and work experience.
AswellasahighpercentageofyoungpeopleattendingCurly'sFarmbeingchronicschoolrefusersweworkwith the
schools and parents to encourage and enable them to remain in the education system.
OverthelastyearCurly'sFarmhasstartedanapprenticeshipprogramme,takingon5youngapprentices,4of which
havean EHCPin placeandhavegraduatedfrom usingCurly'sFarmon a regularbasiswiththeirschools/provisions to
beinginafull-timeapprenticeship.Thishasbeenachievedwiththesupportofanapprenticeshipgrantspanning 3
years, and backing from a training and skills provider.

Public benefit

TheTrusteesarefullyawareoftheguidance&activitiescarriedoutbyCurly'sLegacyatCurly'sFarmand Curly's
Caravantobenefitthelocalcommunityandthatoftheyoungpeopleandadultsaccessuseofthe services/activities
and respite on offer. Through regular visits, formal and informal conversations, guidance that they offer.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Volunteers

ThecontributionmadebythevolunteersatCurly'sFarm&Curly'sCaravanhasbeenconstantthroughoutthis year.
They assist with animal care, maintenance, and fund-raising activities.
Supportinmaintainingthegrounds,smallbuild'oneday'projectsandinraisingtheprofileofthecharityat local
community and county wide events.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

With greater communityinterest and a wider audiencefollowingthe charityon social media has increasedthe  number
of schools,groupsandadultsthathaveaccesstothefarm.Indoingso,we aresupportingmoreyoungpeoplewith a
higher level of vulnerability,who have a greater chance of becominginvolvedin crime, with most being chronic school
refusers or have SEMH difficulties, with some carry-over from lockdown.
The charitycontinuesto supportadultswith learningdifficultiesin their learningand education.We are supporting an
increasinglygrowingnumberofyoungpeopletoremaininschool/educationviaouraccreditedlearning programme.
Plus, our supportive and nurturing approach enables young people to reach their full potential.
VolunteersworkingatCurly'sFarmhavegainedskillsandabilitiesthathavelaterbeenabletohelpthem gaining
meaningful employment.  With some gaining employment with the charity itself.
Curly's Caravan has enabled vulnerable families to have a break, build relationships, rest and make lasting memories.
ThecommunityfullyengageswithCurly'sFarmwithmanygroups,afterschoolclubsandactivitydayshaving waiting
lists, due to their popularity.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial position

Curly's Legacy remains in a positive financial situation.
Theamountofreservesheldaretoensurethatthefarmsstaffandanimalfeedscouldbepaidforthesumof THREE
months. As a knock-on effect from unforeseen changes such as lockdown.

Principal funding sources

The charity'sprincipalsourcesof funds(includinganyfundraising)- The principalsourceof fundscome from charging
schools,groupsandindividualstoaccessandusethefarmforeducationalpurposes.Fundsarealsogainedby the
selling of farm raised meat and eggs directly from the farm.
Curly's Farm also raises funds throughselling'Curly'sFarm' merchandise;an animaladoptionscheme where the  public
can adopt a farm animal for a year.
Fund raising events such as open days and seasonal events, for instance Christmas Carols, Easter events and  Halloween
walks..
Finally, the charity raises funds through donations and the seeking of grants.

Governing document

The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

Apart from the first charitytrustees,every trusteemust be appointedfor a term of 3 years by a resolutionpassed at  a
properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
Inselectingindividualsforappointmentascharitytrustees,thecharitytrusteesmusthaveregardtothe skills,
knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
Any member of the CIO may appointanother person as a proxy to exercise all or any of that member's rights to  attend,
speakandvoteatageneralmeetingoftheCIO.Proxiesmustbeappointedbyanoticeinwriting(a"proxy notice")
Postal Voting
Postalvoting:(a)The CIO may,if the charitytrusteesso decide,allowthe membersto voteby postor electronic mail
("email") to elect charity trustees or to make a decision on any matter that is being decided at a general meeting of  the
members.
(b) The charitytrusteesmust appointat leasttwo personsindependentof the CIO to serve as scrutineersto supervise
the conduct of the postal/email ballot and the counting of votes.
(c) If postaland/oremailvotingis to be allowedon a matter,the CIO mustsendto membersof the CIO notless than

AsthecharitytrusteesoftheTrustyouareresponsibleforthepreparationoftheaccountsinaccordancewith the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I reportinrespectof my examinationof theTrust'saccountscarriedoutunderSection145of theActandin carrying
out my examinationI have followedall applicableDirectionsgiven by the CharityCommissionunder Section 145(5)(b)
of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

Since your charity'sgross incomeexceeded£250,000your examinermust be a member of a listedbody.I can  confirm
thatI am qualifiedto undertakethe examinationbecauseI am a member of the Instituteof CharteredAccountants in
England and Wales, which is one of the listed bodies.
Ihavecompletedmyexamination.Iconfirmthatnomaterialmattershavecometomyattentioninconnection with
the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

BASIS OF PREPARING THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharity,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,havebeenprepared in
accordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingbyCharities:Statement of
RecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththe Financial
ReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland(FRS 102) (effective1 January2019)', Financial
ReportingStandard102 'The FinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland'and  the
Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

INCOME

All income is recognised in the Statement of FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the funds, it
is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

EXPENDITURE

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructiveobligationcommitting the
charitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswillberequiredin settlement
andtheamountof theobligationcanbe measuredreliably.Expenditureisaccountedforonanaccruals basis
andhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateallcostrelatedto thecategory.Wherecostscannot be
directlyattributedtoparticularheadingstheyhavebeenallocatedtoactivitiesonabasisconsistentwith the
use of resources.
Grants offered subject to conditionswhich have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment
but not accrued as expenditure.

TANGIBLE FIXED ASSETS

Depreciationis providedat the followingannualrates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful
life.

STOCKS

Stocksarevaluedatthelowerofcostandnetrealisablevalue,aftermakingdueallowanceforobsolete and
slow moving items.

TAXATION

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

FUND ACCOUNTING

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsofthe charity.
Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements.

HIRE PURCHASE AND LEASING COMMITMENTS

Rentalspaidunder operatingleases are chargedto the Statementof FinancialActivitieson a straightline basis
over the period of the lease.

PENSION COSTS AND OTHER POST-RETIREMENT BENEFITS

Thecharityoperatesadefinedcontributionpensionscheme.Contributionspayabletothecharity's pension
scheme are charged to the  Statement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate.
