At the Society s forthcotnin9 AGM, members will be ￿nVited to
eonsider ènd approve a Strategic Plan vlhich we h8ve been
working on for the past six months. Trustees and executive
members gathered tQ9ethÈr to produce a draft document in the
spring and over the summer Il has been available for membvs
to wew and to make further su99Èstions. Thanks to everyone
who has rnade their comtnents known in this process so f8r.
The firial rnonths of the S￿lety's golden jutsilee celÈbralion5
are rnentioned elsewhere, thoijgh it's worth emph3515ing that
one irnportsnt ￿egacY will be the SLHA display boards. These
have proved to be a helpftjl way of raising awareness of Ihe
Society and its activities and WÈ will continue to use them to
publicise the Society across the entire historic County.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed in Some way te the
activities that are recorded in thi$ Annual Report either 8$
active participants or audience member5. We value all your
conthbutions and of course as & membef$hip organi5ation
we couldn't do much of wh8t we do without your active
involvement. We look forward to the eoming year In which we
already have many events planned. However. we WOU￿ likelo
hear frorn you, especially if you havÈ Èny thoughts about things
we should be doing, themes we should be Èxploring, places we
should be vistting, and speakÈrs we should be inviting.

The Annual Industri81 Arch8eology conference. Draining the Land
ds held at Boston's Guildhall Museum. Presentations Included
an explanation of the history and work of 8 locèl Internal Drainage
Board, the recenlcornprehensive refurbishment of Keèdby
pin9 Station and Boston's %Yaterfront.
ThetalkDunham Bridge- Thenand Now, held in person on 19th
February 2025 gave the history of this toll bridge frorn c0051ruffiion
in 1831 upto the present. Element5 of Ihe mainten8nce8nd
ration of the bridge werÈ èxplained.
A further in-per50n tslk on LincolnshirePapermaking and Pepe
Mills tomprehen%vely covered the history of paperin3￿n9 in
Lincolnshire. The processes of papeimaknng, together with
dexription of the mills and their locations were included in this
informativetalk,
The Te&m provided a $￿kerfor the Louth Heiitage Day on t
topic of the Louth Navigation. Team members also centributed 10

Thereweretwenty-five on the trip. On day one we drove to
Portsmouth lor the lefry and on lo oui hotel in Shankjin.

nineteenth tentury photographer Julia Margaret Cawon.

A recurring theme for many months has been the deteriorati¢n
ofthe [￿kst￿e ￿hITrd Jews, Court. Thi8 has teen ck)sely
Morti￿red tsy the Property Cornmittee and widety discuss8d
by the Tfustees and the ExecLJtive Committee. The deti8ion to
lirnit access to the building over Iwlth and safety ¢oncerns
has caused eonsiljerable dtsruption to many Yo￿nteers. and
we are grateful fortheir fort)earatKe.

structural repairs to Jew5. Court. Again, the Property
Committee ha5 overseen this worK and we a￿ grateful to them
for the many hours spent in delibÈration over the plannin9 and

Archaeology Team
Unfortunately, a long-time servant of the ArchaeologyTe8m,
passed away in June. Dr Gtyn CoP￿k was Inspector
English Heritage for many years aDLI ￿tIrement had his
research into Med￿val relIg￿v5 houses. He was a wldety
published 8nd hwjhly-respetted scholar whose wisdorn will be
50rely missed bythe Committee.
This year has also seen 8 high-profile resignatK)n Irorn the
comFnittee. Mick Jones. once Ihe Director of the City ol Lincoln
Archaeology Unit and the Archaeokgy Officer of Linc£An
City Council, served on skn*ral ¢0rnrn￿ees wrKe 1974. His

As the CharitV'5 Trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, 8nd you consider that the
audit requirement ol Section 144 01 the Charities Act 2022 (the Aal does not apply.
It Is my responsitiility to examine the accounts lunder Section 145 of rhe Actl, and to State, on the ba51s of
procedures specified in the general Directions given by the Charity Commi55ioners under Section 145151 Ibl ol
the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention.
BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT
My examination was carried out In accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners.
An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented with these records. It also includes consideration of any unusual Items or disclosures In the
accounts and seeking of explanations from YOLJ as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedur85
undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required In an audit and consequently, I do not
express an audit opinitsn on the view wven by the financial statements,

Which gives me reasonable cause ro believe that In any material respect the reouirements to keep

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charrty {"Ihe Trusl") for the year ended 3110312024.
Responsibilities and
basis of report
As the charity's Iruslees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance wsth the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
('the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity
Commission under section 14515)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confim that no material matters have
examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that
disclosed below ') which gives me cause to believe that in, any material
respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130
of the Charities Act,. or
the accounts did not accord wth Ihe accounting records, or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
concerning Ihe fom and content of accounts set out in the Charities
