WALLINGTON COMMUNITY WELLBEING CHARITY
Annual Report & Notes to the accounts 1[st] June 2023 to 31[st] May 2024
The Charity has had another very busy and successful year.
Our Bi-Annual event at Holy Trinity Church and Centre remains very popular with increased numbers of visitors and stallholders and the continued provision of Covid and Flu boosters by the NHS Vaccination Team to those who were eligible and wished to receive them. As usual there were Taster sessions of activities plus a visiting choir providing a Singing for Breathing workshop. Two more events were held in Phoenix Centre Roundshaw to bring the variety of help and advice available to residents in the area that is considered to be more deprived and therefore suffering Health inequality.
The activity and exercise classes continued with Two Chair Supported Yoga sessions, Two Tai Chi and the ongoing Exercise After Stroke Group plus two popular local healthy walks. Numbers of participants remained high with a waiting list for most activities. The Calendar of Activities continues to be published annually and also remains very popular.
Trustees and committee members continue to take part in various other voluntary work including being a Trustee for other charities. Several other events were attended by them also as presenters and speakers to share their expertise.
The Charity continues to work in partnership with the local NHS by providing opportunities for them to engage with local residents. This work included continuing to be involved in Health Inequalities work.
The Charity Chair, as Co-Chair of the NHS Wallington Integrated Neighbourhood Team, has resulted in the Charity working in partnership to provide the Wallington INT ‘Healthy You’ project that addresses specific needs that have been identified in local health data. Wallington INT runs monthly drop-in sessions and regular events to highlight the project in focus at the time. The Charity hosts these and provides the organisational admin.
The Charity trustees and committee members work with the NHS in other roles such as Patient Participation Groups, NHS CCG, HealthWatch and other similar groups. This has led to the Charity being well respected and considered to be an authority on Local Community Health & Wellbeing needs and the ways they may be addressed.
The Charity is unique in its provision of Health & Wellbeing events, activities, advice and signposting to providers and services in the Borough.
The Charity Chair continues to be on the Primary Care Network and Health Inequalities Boards for Sutton Borough.
During the year the Charity also sponsored another local charity, Sing Out Sutton and its Voice coach to provide further Respiratory Rehabilitation Singing for Breathing sessions for the NHS.
