The trustees are appointed in accordance with the terms of the constitution and must be agreed to by the other current trustees. The only appointment provision is that the role is a voluntary role. We expect a minimum two year commitment to the charity from all trustees.

The trustees are each allocated particular roles to facilitate the day to day operations. Decisions are made by the trustees at formal quarterly trustees meetings and, additionally, informal meetings as required.

There are no relationships with any related parties

There are no major risks to consider. Vet bills for dogs that require emergency medical treatment when they are in kennels or foster care in the UK, or potential kennel costs in relation to RBU (Rescue Back Up), for which trustees have assessed both of these risks as low.

GRANT MAKING POLICY

In furtherance of our charitable purposes we provide ongoing financial support by way of monthly grant payments to our preferred rescuers, predominantly based in Romania. Grant payments are a combination of, mostly, restricted and, to a lesser degree, unrestricted funds.

The charity has no paid staff and all of the activities undertaken are fulfilled by volunteers who undertake a range of activities including fundraising, running our social media pages and the rehoming of the dogs.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The transportation and rehoming of 127 dogs from Romania to the UK. Grants made to enable our preferred rescuers to meet the costs for the welfare of the dogs in their care, so they can be fed and cared for, and to also improve their living conditions.

The funding of vet bills for dogs being treated for parvovirus and needing orthopaedic operations in Romania.

The spay and neuter of 108 dogs. In addition, giving advice on the upkeep for those dogs that are owned and thereby improving their standards of welfare. The figure of neutered dogs does not include those of the supported rescuers, which are categorised under “outgoing vet costs”

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 04/08/2024.

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
