Castleton Silver Band Trustees Report for the year to 30 September 2022

The Trustees of Castleton Silver Band (the ‘Band’) submit their report and the financial statements of the Band for the year ended 30th September 2022.

Structure

The Band was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 15[th] March 2019. The charity number is 1182481. The trustees are Mrs Cath Batley, Mr Philip Creswick, Mr Don Hoggarth, Mr John Whitfield. All band members and parents of training band members are eligible to be members of the CIO.

At the 2022 AGM new trustees will be appointed to take over from Don Hoggarth and Cath Batley who have retired after many years of service to the Band.

The Trustees would like to thank all who provide support and guidance to the Training Band (especially Leo Copley, the de facto leader of the Training Band), and to those who help us all with music and uniforms.

During the year, band rehearsals returned to the Sports Pavillion in Hope. The events of the year included:,

Financial Review

The net deficit for the year to 30[th] September 2021 was £69 ( a surplus of £632 for the previous year). The largest item of expenditure was the purchase of a replacement tenor horn.

Risk management

As a member of Brass Bands England, the Band benefits from advice and training to help the band better understand and guard against safeguarding issues. All members have received a copy of the policy and procedures; members who give lessons to the training band have had DBS checks. Other risks are covered by insurance and licenses.

This report has been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to small charities.
