## **Objectives and activities** 

Charitable objects: 

**(1)** To advance the Islamic religion in United Kingdom for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, public celebration of religious festivals, producing and/or distributing literature on Islam to enlighten others about the Islamic faith. 

**(2)** To advance in life and help young people through: 

(a) The provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social 

welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life; 

(b) Providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to relief unemployment and to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals 

**(3)** The prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship anywhere in the world by: (a) providing donations, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty; (a) providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient. 



## **Projects:** 

## **Outreach** 

As part of our humanitarian aid objectives, last year we started three campaigns to help those in need in three different countries: Somalia, Yemen, and Uganda. 

This year, our Somalia Ramadan 2021 appeal proved to be successful again. We raised enough funds to distributed 160 food packages to poor families, one food package per family. Similarly to last year, each food package consisted of 12.5kg of rice and sugar, 10kg of flour, 3 litres of oil, 2 kg of dates and a carton of pasta consisting of seven packs. Compared to last year, we were able to feed an additional dozen families. Our aim was to give each family good quality food parcels. Next year, we aim to help even more families. 

However, the other two campaigns, Yemen Appeal and Orphans Trust in Uganda, did not turn out how we planned. Despite restrictions for covid-19 pandemic being lifted, we were not able to complete both projects. We faced problems on ground where we lost our volunteers in the local area, we were raising funds for and operating in, due to covid. For this reason, we stopped raising funds and collecting donations until we were able to find new volunteers who passed our rigorous checks and proved to be reliable to carry out our objectives.  When we were unable to find such individuals, we then agreed to work in partnership with a reliable UK charity so we could carry on with the projects and continue raising funds. However, we did not find a charity that was operating in the areas we were raising funds for. As a charity, agreed to stop raising funds and hold onto what we have raised until we are able to either execute both projects ourselves or find a charity operating in those specific areas. 

## **Online Islamic Education** 

This is our third year providing free online live Islamic learning that students in the UK and abroad benefit from. Our courses and programmes have remained the same and students have progressed from foundation level to intermediate level. We still have the same students enrolled from the beginning of the academy as well as new students whom have enrolled. We currently still have one teacher who is offering their service voluntarily thus still offering courses once a week. The online academy is completely dependent on donations and once we get more funding, we aim to employ more teachers so we can run multiple courses at the same time and offer courses more than once a week. 



## **Financial review** 

## **Statement on reserves** 

Our current reserves limit is £3500. This means any amount of unrestricted funds up to and including £3500 may be reserved by the charity, for the reasons outlined in reserves policy. We aim to only have an amount of reserves that is proportionate to what is required to continue our existing operations and respond to any urgent operational needs that may arise, in the face of unexpected financial implications. Income from any sources are principally used to further our charitable purposes and benefit those whom we work with.  Our reserve limit will be adjusted accordingly as our work progresses, which will be reflected in our Reserves Policy.
