When disGussing the events the group have been requested to assist wf(h. the Trustees ensure that the Chartty Commission's guidance on public benefit is kept in mind. The main activib'es covered during this period were to provide event and safety communications for the following Charitable Organisations. Weston Hospicecare - Mendip Challenge 2nd June 2024. This event is a sponsored walk is to raise money toward5 the running costs of the hospice and consists of volunteers and supporters walking the Wesl Mendip Way, our services are used to provide resilient and reliable radio communications to assist the tracking of walkers due to mobile phones not working over the terrain to ensure their safety. Channel Events- Mendip Murmuration 8th June 2024. This event is a mountain bike race covering 35 miles of the Mendip Hills AONB, our serVIS are used to provide resilient and reliable radio communications due to mobile phones not woM"ng over the terrain to ensure rider safety. Relish Running Races- Cheddar Gorge Challenge 9th June 2024. This event is a series of cross-country running raS over the Mendip Hills AONB covering various distances up to and including a half marathon. Our ServIS are again required to provide resilient and reliable event and safety radio communicakn'ons due to rnobile phones not working over the terrain. Parkinsons Walk for Lrfe- 15th June 2024. This yearfs event was held at a new location within the grounds of the Blaise Castle Estate in North Bristol and comprised of a 1.5-mile and a 5- mile leisurely family walk around the estate grounds to raise monies for Parkinsons UK. Summary of the main activ¥ties undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the StatOry declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by Ihe Charity Commission on public benefit) This year also saw the group participating in a live exercise run by the Avon & Somerset Resilien Forum on 12 April. This exercise was for the local authorities to test their Rest Centre Plans with our element being to facilitate the off grid commurFications betsyeen the 4x rest centres, lx Control Room and 2x RepeateilRelay sites. The exercise ran from 12.00 to 18.OOhrs and highlighted RAYNET'S ability to OKrate a stand alone communications system however it did demonstrate that more resilience was required relating to off grid power if this type of srtuation was to be a prolonged situation. Section D Achievements and performance Summary ofthe main achievements of the charity during the year Bristol & Somerset RAYNET Group have attended several events this year providing event and safety communications for events that would otherwise not be possible to run due to the lack of reliable Communication routes. The organisations we have worked with have all expressed their thanks for the professional setvice we provide both on the event and with the assistance of their planning. The Group are very experienced in setting up and running communications facilities over challenging terrain and many of our members are long serving. We have worked with several of the organisations listed above for many years now through several staff Changes and our experience is always valued and appreciated when planning current events. Bristol & Somerset RAYNET Group were also able to demonstrate to the local authorities our ability to provide off grid communications over several locations should the need arise. Section E Financial review Cash at bank as of 5th April 2025 was £4201.85 in unrestricted funds. These funds are sufficient to cover the Groups registration renewal fees to the National Organisation in January 2026 of approximately £250 and to pursue investment in off grid power sources such as Lithium-ion batteries and portable generalors. No other outlays are expected at this time. No specific fund reserves are set at this time as no additional expenditure 18 ex ected. The Group are looking to be able 10 purchase ott grid power sources such as solar generalors, PDnable Power Stations & Liihium-lon batteries to extend ihe operaiing lime of our digital radios and repeaters and lo become more resilient when operating away from mains power or in the event of a local or more regionalised power outage.
