Trustees’ Annual Report
For the period 05 April 2024 to 31 December 2024
The trustees present the annual report in conjunction with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ending 31[st] December 2024.
Objectives and Aims:
To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the statement of beliefs in Sunderland, other parts of the United Kingdom and the world as the church council may from time to time think fit and other such purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the law of England and Wales and consistent with the work of the charity.
The relief of poverty and sickness and to relive the distress caused thereby regardless of nationality, religious, political or other opinion in the said Sunderland and in such other parts of the United Kingdom and the world as the church council may from time to time think fit.
The Charity exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to teach people the bible. All our activities reflect these core goals. The Church arranges or participates in a number of activities to this end, namely Bible Studies, Prayer meetings, Concerts, Outreach events, Conferences, Marriage Seminars, Men’s Discipleships, Revival Meetings with visiting preachers, Tent Crusades (home and abroad).
We have complied with our duty to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s Guidance on public benefit
Achievements and Performance
Regular church services are held at the RCCG Living Faith Building, 1 North Bridge Street, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland SR5 1AB, at 3pm Sunday afternoon.
2024 has been a year of growth both in people and finances since the church reopened. The Church has started in its vision to bring the gospel to the local community through its giving and involvement. We have made great impact in the area and have been able to work with people from the local community. As a church we were able to host a full revival and several special Sunday services which proved to be very fruitful.

Financial Review
In 2024 there is income due to the growth in the number of people coming to our services. We have maintained equally low expenses and have been able to host more Special Sundays with guest speakers due to the increase in giving. The stability of the church and finances have been maintained. For the year ending 31[st] December 2024, the charity had a total revenue of £16678.05 ad total expenses of £12,249.36. The closing reserves were £6294.92.
Policy on reserves
The charities unrestricted funds held in reserve for any unforeseen circumstances are considered to be adequate. The Trustees of the charity aim to have enough unrestricted reserves to cover 3 months of expenditure and to cover any unforeseen circumstances
Structure Governance and management
The Church registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 23 April 2019. The church was closed on 1[st] April 2020 until 5[th] April 2024 when Leighton Ainsworth took over as Trustee and Andrew Wilkinson (Chair) was assigned as a Trustee on 20[th] April 2024. Mr Colin McClaren was assigned as Trustee on 25[th] July 2025.
Constitution of trustee and selection methods
The Board of Trustees retain authority to appoint new Trustees to fill vacancies and/or increase the number of Trustees as need arises. The process of appointing new trustees is in the constitution document.
Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities:
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice),
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 2011, Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
Observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP;
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;

Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to. presume that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiners Report on the Accounts
To the Trustees of Potters House Christian Fellowship Sunderland Church
For the year ended 31 December 2024 Charity number 1182449
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31[st] December 2024, which are set out on pages 9, 10 and 11.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiners statement
My examination was carried out in accordance wit the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and

To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
