Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance the education and well-being
of the pupils at the Cavendish School by
providing and assisting in the provision
of facilities not required to be provided by
the local education authority at the
school.
Our main activity in this area has been to
seek donations from local businesses
groups, and individuals towards funding
work in the school.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
When the Charity was set up we received
a donation from a local charity towards a
garden at the entrance to the new school
- we are currently planning the new
garden, but it has been beset with issues
regarding locating a suitable site as well
as the availability of Trustees to engage
with this project.
We have provided donations to the
school during the period, which have
been used for the benefit of the pupils
attending the school.
A statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 Trustees confirm we have had regard to
the guidance from the Charity
Commission regarding public benefit.

SORP reference
Policy on grant-making Para 1.38 The school celebrated its first year of
operation in its newly built site in early
December 2022.
As a Charity supporting the school, we
have provided donations and support
where necessary in line with our
Grant-making policy.
We should note there have been
significantly fewer requests for grants
than we were expecting. This is a trend
that has continued from previous years.
Policy on social investment, Para 1.38 Not Applicable.
including program-related
investment
Contribution made by Para 1.38 While the maximum number of Trustees
volunteers the Charity can have is 12, during this
period, there were only five Trustees -
four of which had children at the school -
and the focus for the Charity continued to
be establishing itself and developing
policies and structures to conform to the
requirements from the Charity
Commission.
The availability of Trustees has had a
direct impact on the activities of the
charity however, the work being done is
laying a firm foundation for the future as
we grow alongside the Cavendish School.
Other No additional information.

CHARITY REGISTRATION NUMBER: 1182441

ACCOUNTS AND REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023

FRIENDS OF THE CAVENDISH SCHOOL INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS

I report to the trustees/members of the Friends of the Cavendish School (Charity number 1182441) on my examination of the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023, set out on page 3

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under Section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that, in any material respect:

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with Section 130 of the Charities Act; or

the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or

the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a “true and fair” view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
