The trustees engage in an open manner to the which allows in context the inclusion of recruitment of new trustees, if and when required at which
sometimes maybe on a temporary basis until the Annual General Meeting, where they are cordially invited to become trustees by election of the membership.
Objective of our organisation - To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people (particularly but not exclusively older men), within Caerau and the surrounding area, from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society through the provision of facilities in which they can meet to undertake, jointly or individually, creative, physical or recreational activities, learn or pass on skills and knowledge and support each other socially. For the purpose of this clause 'socially excluded' means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one of more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; bereavement or old age; ill health (physical or mental).
Activity - We provide a weekly gathering with a hot meal, sometimes have speakers on topics of local interest (eg. Community Furniture Aid Reg No. 1163913, Demetia Group supporters, Dogs Trust, etc) Members take part in a wide range of activities which currently include photography, woodwork, computer skills, DIY skills, gardening (we have links with Caerau Community Growers (unregistered charity), board games, exchange visits with other Men's Sheds, trips (eg. Brecon Museum), writing and poetry. Once a month we have a members consultation meeting where all are invited to feedback on the activities and generate ideas for future activities. We provide social and emotional support to members who would otherwise be isolated and lonely. We advertise in the local GP surgery and the GP has referred several of our members to join the charity to counter depression and loneliness. We arrange and participate in team competitions with other Men's Sheds (eg. walking football, indoor curling). We collect members savings for the local Credit Union who attend weekly to collect them for their individual accounts. Speakers have included the local wellbeing nurse, prostate cancer advice worker and a speaker on care packages for hospital leavers.

Progression since inception as a CIO - Back when Caerau Men’s Shed was introduced into the community there was a membership of just 7 men who then formed a group with its own constitution, and then went about engaging in the pursuit of recruiting new member – over 5 years have past and that membership as grown to over 40+
The group have excelled in a variety of ways with the members working together on projects such as its very own Christmas Calendar – very successful, the development of an art/drama group – success with this being born out at the visit and production at the WG Senedd – really impressed all in attendance.
The success of the calendar as help to engage in the Shed’s biggest challenge yet by working with the community to create and develop a Men’s Shed Workshop – where in December of last year children were invited to Caerau Men’s Shed Santa’s Grotto – made by the members – extremely successful venture
The membership at its weekly meetings at Dyffryn Chapel vestry work with the trustees to maintain progress and we look forward in earnest to the future years of Caerau Men’s Shed
Accounts of Caerau Men’s Shed – the relevant accounts of the
organisation were sent into the Charity Commission in January of this year, and we have attached a copy to this report.
Conclusion - As the elected representative of Caerau Men’s Shed that was mandated to write this report, I do hope that you find this acceptable and once again apologise for the delay
