Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 In the reporting period the charity’s
work has increased by 50% we came in
to the new reporting year with the
launch of our podcast- the untold
cancer stories which to date has
attracted over 8,000 listeners.
We also had further success with the
second instalment of our photographic
exhibition of portraits of women living
with cancer and their bodily scars. This
once again received national press
coverage and acclaim and raised
awareness of important (physical and
mental) health and care issues for
people living with the impacts of cancer
and surgery.
Our online support groups for BAME
women living with cancer have grown to
3 consistent and busy groups-
survivors, stage 4, young women.
We also got to launch our magazine
which became the first magazine for
women of colour living with cancer.
Our 100 women survey also received
lots of media attention and an interview
on sky news where it was established
that more needs to be done to close the
equality gap in cancer care for women
of colour.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 This was the charity’s second year of
operation and we raised £89,202 to
support our work, we recognised this
was largely due the black lives matter
movement that took place during this
time. We expect out 21/22 figures to be
slightly less than this.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 The charity’s aim is to build reserves
that equate to 3-6 months expenditure.
The charity has very low fixed
overheads and, therefore, this is
primarily to enable cashflow to be
managed and services to continue in
periods when income is lower.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £18,015
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/A
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 None

Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 N/A
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 We are aware that we received lots of
donations during this year due to the
black lives matter movement and are
fully aware this may not be the case
next year so its important to manage
what we can deliver and sustain
finically. We are keeping a close eye on
this and have fundraising and finance
support that allow us to manage the
risk.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021

I report on the accounts of The Leanne Pero Foundation for the year ended 31 March 2021 which are set out on pages 1 to 3.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The Charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (The Act) but that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s Statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes considerations of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent examiner’s statement

In the course of my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
